Any recommendations with things found at home depot ? Or amazon. Also when taking it out of the box, got charcoal on the floor, is that normal? Thanks

Yep charcoal dust is normal but do check it for rips in the perforated metal. I had one turn up that looked like a javelin had gone through it.

Use chain to hang it. Strong zip ties between loops on chain if you need to tighten it up a bit. I'm sure there's other ways, roof rack ratchet straps?.. Anything strong.

Thanks just had a change of plans. I by mistake didn't by an inline filter as I was planning on connecting the hyper fan directly to the carbon filter and then connecting flexible ducting and running it into the attic to exhaust the air into another space. I bought a one way filter by mistake so I am now going to connect my 8 inch fan inside the tent, then connect the ductwork to that. I am then going to run my duct into the attic where my carbon filter will be sitting. The air from the filter will then fill the attic space and there I have it. For now I plan on passive air intake of which I hope will be sufficient (no intake fan or filter). 5x9 tent, Hlg550 LEDs x2

I have never heard of a one way filter. Have you got a link to it?

But yeah passive will work fine. It does for my 8" fan in 4x8.

Awesome, here is the link to the phresh filter i have that i was planning on ducting from the other end out of the tent. I bought it from the local hydro store: https://www.zenhydro.com/phresh-filter-8-in-x-24-in-750-cfm-12667.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwo4jOBRBmEiwABWNaMSbD7p4pPfowLVXJtbZLlt3EuY6TaTnBQbPWk2_HyI1jj-jeP3bCuhoCmcUQAvD_BwE

here is the link to an inline phresh filter, that would have allowed the ducting from the other end:

what does your passive intake look like? did you run any ducting with a bug screen or anything?

Cool, cheers for the link. That is a standard filter, like mine, you can, if you want have it in your tent and suck through it blowing air into attic or do what you said and push through it with it been in your attic. Personally I like to suck through mine and blow it straight into a chimney.

My passive is just my tent flaps and duct socks allowing air to be brought in. However I made a vent in my chimney which is connected to my basement 3 storeys down, so the whole room which has veg tent, flower tent and drying chamber gets air from the basement which is cool. Then my extraction goes into another chimney which allows the cool air to be drawn passive through the vent flaps at bottom of tents, which have bug screens on. It works well, sometimes too well, I have had to up my veg tent from a 315cmh to 600mh due to the weather been cold and the veg tent wasn't getting warm enough.

If your tent flaps are not enough you can add a small length of duct with a bend in to your lower duct socks and put a stocking over the end for bugs.

Venting into the attic is not a great idea. Your venting warm humid air into a warm dark void. It could easily lead to mould.

The attic has vents in it and there will be a carbon filter filtering the air which catches all potential mold spores etc. Also, I'm not sure how hot it will be since we are talking LED lighting which has no infrared heat. I've been reading about the mold possibility, but haven't found solid evidence as of yet.

Venting into an attic is a bad idea. You've touched on molds....but if you live in an area with below freezing temps you will find that ICE will buildup on your rafters/etc. (more mold)

I remember a story years ago on another forum where a guy did this...and when all of that ice melted...it wetted/soaked the Owen's corning pink...and DOWN CAME THE CEILING in his house.

I sold a house 2 years ago I grew in for 25 years with seriously good ventilation. My grow was in the crawlspace and was directly vented outside. In the process of the sale the home inspector found 2 staples I missed in the crawl that once held up a sheet of mylar. THAT set him on a tear...and of course...he found an itty-bitty spot of mold in the ATTIC...cus it was a "GROW HOUSE" ...and that speck cost me 13K to mitigate. (and I didn't vent into my attic) Just a thought.....

best of luck however you decide to fly

Carbon filter does not remove the moisture from the air. LED will still produce a watt of heat from a watt of electricity. Yes they run cooler than HID as your not heating a gas but they have fans and heat sinks etc for a reason.
If your attic is vented can you not hook ur ducting up to a vent and vent it outside?

I found that two ratchet straps work pretty well.

If your able bodied, set the straps a bit bigger then the filter.
Then lift one end in and let the weight hang on the strap while you loop the other around and tighten.

If your not able bodied the straps can be used to hoist it up but you will probably need to reset them as they will eventually litmit out. (Edit. You can use the straps as a pulley but you cant let go of the straps till you ratchet it :bigjoint:)

Also agree that venting moist air into an "unconditoned" attic that gets cold enough to hit a dew point is not a good idea look up dew point temps you would be suprised how little it takes to form condensation.
Just my 2
also my led experience is limited but its not like they run "cold" by any means . Thats a sales pitch but they do use less juice at the wall wich in turn creates less heat (watts=heat).

Also if someone looks at your house in winter (if it gets colder then your grow room air that is)
With a flir or thermal camera it will look pretty noticable just sayin

Thanks all. first should mention that it doesn't get anywhere close to freezing where I live so that is definitely in my favor
, also the attic is usually hot as f, but has good ventilation bc the heat dissipates

. I decided to run an inline cf in the tent between fan and ducting and run ducting into attic and position the ducting to blow the exhaust outside as best as possible (right "on" one of my attic vents)

Running it through the attic is the best option .
