Different strains will behave differently. I had one particular outdoor strain from southern Oregon that would have a main stem as big around as a no.2 pencil and just as hard by the time the seedling only had 3-4 nodes.

If you want to really max your yields out outside spend the extra money that you're going to spend on electricity vegging them through the winter and the 50 gallon pots on more soil and amendments instead and put them straight into the ground in the biggest, baddest planting beds you can.

I would cut them into as many clones aso could and REALLY up my production, I would take 50 "pretty damn big" plants over 2 "holy fucking shit that plant is so big the stalks are all breaking off at the main stem" plants, I tried growing 20 foot plants and way too many problems with it. Let's say one of those plants dies in a freak accident as opposed to one of your 50 clones, which would be more devastating? Losing a 10 lb monster or one of your 50 clones that will probably be half pound + if you do it right? I'm not a big fan of doing all my work on a ladder if I can have a nice eye level canopy.

I spread and top to keep them short and wide they still get around 6 to 8 feet tho and im not in a legal state to have 50 i only do 2 or 3 a year the cops dont mess with them if u only have a couple plants and i spread them out in different locations im just goin to see how big i can get my plants to me the bigger the better ill have back ups elese where i might try to see how big i can get 1 plant befor the cops decide to pull it lol

If this your only option I would reccomend the 300 gallon smart pots, I had a blue dream mother that I vegged for 6 months before cutting all my clones off her and putting her outside, she was 7 feet when she got put outside and ended up being 22 feet tall in a 300 gallon smart pot with 22 bags of happy frog + amendments(dolomite, guano, worm castings, bone meal, and some completed steer and chicken manure) sadly a wind storm tore her to prices because she was too tall and snapped at the bottom of the root base because of 60mph gusts. Wasted alot of money on all that dirt and shit my friend, she was staked up proper but once the plant weighs a ton like that it is hard as fuck to keep them up.

Man that sucks Piven. Wasted 6 months growing and all that soil and amendments for, mother nature to come ruin it.

I vegged for 2 months once and ended up with 6 footers indoors. If i vegged for 6 months id have a 18ft plant before it went outside.

Very nice looking plants man, I always rub white vinegar on the stalk where it breaks, soak it pretty good and it should stop stalk rot from getting in there, then get a 3 dollar can of pruning seal and spray the whole affected area.

Yeah man, but I would hate to be one of the farmers who's entire livelihood burned to the ground in Cali this year, I truly feel for those people, at least I had other plants that did fine. Now that's mother nature fuckin ya.

Jealous of you outdoor people. Though I havent a clue about soil so I should probably stick to what I know, that is hydro.
