Is it time to harvest?

Hey y'all,

Long time reader, first time poster, and very new grower.

I'm on my second grow and nearing harvest. I'm growing GDP in a 2.5'x2.5'x5' grow tent under a 450W equivalent LED. Based on what I've read, I thought that GDP took 9-10 weeks of flowering before it would be ready for harvest. I'm only on day 48 as of today. I haven't begun to flush the plants yet because I assumed I needed closer to 60 - 70 days of flowering time. I planned on flushing in the next week or so.

However, I just took a look at my trichomes with my digital magnifier and noticed that some of the trichomes are already turning amber. I'm wondering if I need to harvest earlier than I previously thought. I do like the trichomes to get a bit amber because I like my indicas to lean more on the body high/couch lock feel. The rule of thumb that I've read has been to wait until 20% of the trichomes begin to look amber and then it's time to harvest.

Here are the photos that I took.

What do y'all think? Should I begin to harvest now? Begin to flush now and harvest after a week or so of flushing? or do I continue to let this play out and stick to my original plan of harvesting around the 65 day mark?

I appreciate any and all help! Thanks!

I disagree...Look at those Trichs....see how "plasticy" they look? All cloudy and saw a few ambers in the mix too...

Harvest now....I don't subscribe to the "flushing' school of thought!

Nice pics by the way....what did you use! Would love to see an overall pic of the mature flowers too!

Cheers and Merry Christmas

I see that they are "plastic looking" but waiting for them to become a bit more amber would give me more of a body high, right?

I took these photos with the Carson zOrb. You can find it on Amazon. Makes looking at your trichomes really easy!

Here are a few photos of the plants but they're from a few weeks ago. I can take more when I get home from work later this afternoon.

The swell hasn't even occurred yet. You would also be fucking yourself out of a ton of yield. Wait for the pistils to almost entirely retract.

is this from seed or clone? you didn't induce any co2 did?

if this is the kens cut .... 56 days minimum is all you need if you don't wanna be patient. If you can wait a little then take it to 63 days any longer is just prolonged.

Leds tend to ripen a little ahead of schedule. If you Temps aren't to high this helps as well and you seem to have that dialed in as well.

That thing definitely isn't done yet, even if it were 56 days. Not trying to rub you the wrong way, but breeder suggestions are just that. I have had plants need two more weeks than breeder suggestions.

Sounds like the concencus is to let this go for at least another couple of weeks makingy harvest time just after new year's. This was my original projection. I'll keep y'all updated and I'll post more pics over the next couple of weeks.

let it go longer. most people like that heavy stone that you get from like 60% + amber. i myself appreciate a good sativa but round here everyone wants to get real friendly with their cat, couch and netflix lol

I am a sativa guy, myself, but like anyone, I can appreciate a good indica or hybrid.

Wow... 60% amber? I was told 20% would be the highest otherwise you risk getting more CBD or CBN (I can't remember which) which would make the high far less noticeable. Is that incorrect info?

i personally harvest around 25-35%% for myself but when i have the greater populous in mind i go 50-60%. its all relative to what you want but by the looks in your flowering pics they still have a ways to go. i DO NOT judge ripeness by pistils because its not all that accurate but i do wait until most are turning dark before i even start checking trichs. with LED the pistils seem to respond differently as well so keep that in mind too.

Alright...based on the micro pics Homegrowguy posted of the Trichs I was making an educated internet guess, hence why I asked for actual pics of the flowers themselves. Based on the Trichs being cloudy with some amber interspersed here and there I still say harvest.

Homegrowguy then posted 2 week old purple grow light lit pics of the flowers which for me doesn't tell me anything tho everyone started opinionating on the 2 week old flower pics.

Does everyone realize that the flower pics he posted are 2 weeks old? Just curious...Oh and I like the Carson Zorb pics I am going to ask Santa for one of those!

Cheers and Merry Christmas!
