Has anyone used a AIT Air Injection Technology "The Spider" Airstone?

Has anyone used a AIT Air Injection Technology "The Spider" Airstone? I'm shopping for some new airstones and saw this, just curious if it's any good? The price isn't too bad but if it's not that great I'd rather not spend the money on it.

Also, anyone got any suggestions of good airstones? I've always used the cheapo 5" discs but they seem to work ok, just want to know if there's anything better out there. I just picked up a 20w air pump and will be running x4 3.5gallon buckets with the pump so would like a good airstone to match to it.

Thanks.

I use waterfalls in every tubsite. I literally tossed my last airpump.

Air bubblers of any type are an inferior way to aerate water. Fish keepers know it, the same laws of physics apply to plants sitting in water.

My one and only waterpump pulls water from my control bucket where it shares space with my cooling coil, aka water to water heat exchanger, and pumps through a manifold that delivers water to a half inch elbow fitting in the lid of every 27 gallon Tuffbox tubsite.

Better mixing, aeration, temperature control... and of course, growth.

Well if it straight DWC not sure if there is a choice. That does look like it will provide lots of surface agitation. I really have no clue but would even a couple of teed tubes weighted at the end provide bigger bubbles to help get DO in water? I did a DWC system a while back (20 years lol) and stones kept plugging up lol.

I usually don't do dwc often but this next run I'll be doing 6 ebb n grow buckets for one strain, so I don't need any airstones in that, and I'll also have 3 other strains running in the same tent so I wouldn't be able to have a central res, though I wish I could, but I've never run these strains before and I'm not sure of their nute uptake needs or they're stretch.

The regular airstones do work well, but they are the same price as this "spider" thingy.

The problem I've had with airstones is clogging up as well, but I read the spider doesn't. Hmm, I just hate being the first person to try something new lol. I really want to try the recirculating dwc, with my ebb n grow system if would be pretty easy to convert it to recirculating I would assume.

That is an interesting question waterdawg, I'm not sure how an air tube in the bucket alone would work, I'll have to see what it looks like later today and I'll let ya know.

Thanks for the ideas 8-) the journey continues...

don't be... my setup is something I've never seen done before and works perfect for me. my understanding has always been it is not hard to keep the water oxygenated... I have been running DWC a few years now, and I have never had DO problems. I really just use air stones as a weight to keep the tubing in place under water.

True story. The only thing simpler is no airstones, tubing, air line manifold or pump at all.

No doubt guys, I will give the AIT spiders a try and I'll post back if they work well or not. They're $38 for x4 of them, and the airstones I usually use are about $10 a piece as well, so i might as well give them a shot.

Holy shit @Dr.D81 !! That is a freaking awesome setup! Damn, i'd love something like that. I made a aero system out of pvc pipes years back but I never got to complete a run with it, aero can be a PITA though if the sprayers get clogged up, but I've never seen a rdwc system using the same pvc before! That is so slick. I used to run x2 3.5x3.5' flood and drain tables with 36 plants in each, it worked very well, the only hard part is taking so many clones all at once. But as soon as they root, in a system like that, you can flower straight away. The vertical idea is awesome! You will be my hero if you build that system man. 8)

Google Heath Robinson tube rdwc and it will bring up this grow on riu as like the third link. it is a good read but the pics dont come up after the riu facelift.

You seen his 2lb critical + tree grow. Its much like your setup but no cage:)
Seriously, the more I fuck around with my setup, the more mine looks like his did. He did some trellis stuff too. His hydro system was RDWC before they called it by that name.

He's been an inspiration of mine since I first discovered some of his old threads several years ago.

The more things change...
