were you aware that it is in no way polite or reasonable to hang a sign that says "no blacks allowed", rob?

after you get the shit beat out of you for trying to lure an 11 year old into your rape van, we will be the ones paying all your medical bills for you since you think buying health insurance is slapery.

you're welcome in advance, you dumb old bitch.

This thread must have hit a nerve with the right wingers because it sure got derailed in a hurry!

Anyone have any comments about health insurance executives giving speeches to doctors about why they are costing the system too much?

I think health insurance companies need to be put out of business and the savings used to provide better health care to everyone.

Most countries with nationalised healthcare still have insurance companies.

You're an extremist, it doesn't need to be either/or.

An interesting article about health care and the influence of big health care corporations on 'academic presentations';

http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2017...uo-media-fails-report-conflicts-interest.html
From the article:

One big problem may be that we don’t understand how much discussion of health care reform is driven by those who benefit from the status quo.

aka privitization..where there's a dollar to be made..

This makes the case for Single Payer/Medicare for all..do it!

Observers of journalism in the mass media have recognized that an echo chamber effect is occurring in media discourse. One purveyor of information will make a claim, which many like-minded people then repeat, overhear, and repeat again (often in an exaggerated or otherwise distorted form) until most people assume that some extreme variation of the story is true.

The echo chamber effect that occurs online is due to a harmonious group of people amalgamating and developing tunnel vision. Participants in online communities may find their own opinions constantly echoed back to them, which reinforces their individual belief systems.

Agreed. It would be much preferable to the current system where the government is literally prohibited from investigating their industry for anti-trust violations.

Jesusfuck. Why aren't blatantly abusive rules like that illegal?
Illegal? It is the law. From what I recall, it was a gift to some senator in the late 1940s in an unrelated political bargain. Even then, it was meant as a temporary measure - even codified as such into the law. But Congress (R), in their infinite wisdom, bowed to lobbyists and made it permanent in exchange for some rather large campaign contributions. So there it is. It is literally the only industry immune from anti-trust. Not only anti-trust enforcement, but the even investigation of anti-trust.

Go figure.

That's a crime if ever there was one.
