Heat Mat Thermostat for aerocloner...?

so i built a bootleg ez cloner and the res temps are solid at eighty degrees... now i know that i could use a short cycle timer to control the temps but i do not have one on hand...but what about setting the probe for a hydrofarm heat mat thermostat inside the res of the cloner and attach that to the pump...think that would work? thinking out loud, any advice would be appreciated.

naw...illadelph gold coil, frosted...now that you say it i need a better cam so it looks like gold and not a bong full of piss, appreciate the helpful advice
