Heating a grow room with black barrels

I read online about people heating there green houses at night by simply having large black 55 gallon jugs in there greenhouse and they would just emit heat they stored during the day. Has anyone tried this indoors? I have a fairly large shed i think around 10widex13longx12.5high(thats feet by the way) anyway i have a lot of unused space and was wondering if this could be a viable option keep in mind i also run a 1000w hid light and 2 400w hid lights in this room so there quite a bit of light. And the room is fully insulated. Sorry i know that was a mouthful with no periods

Yes, you can do this, but you need a way to heat the water, not sure that your lights can match the sunlight used to heat the water in gh.

Hmm any idea on what i could use
To heat the water or heat up in general?

I use a little 1kw fan heater with it's own thermostat, keeps the room at a comfortable temperature 24/7 as well as helping stir the air around but you got to watch the humidity as electric heaters like mine tend to dry the air out.

More so just heat it efficiently currently i use a 1kw heater and that keeps the temperature perfect.... however living in southeast alaska its very cold about 45°f right now and its noon so although it keeps the temperature in my room high enough the electric for the heater to run almost the whole 12 hours my light is off is very expensive.

What about rigging up a solar furnace?
Would be a pretty cheap fix , would work till winter when you have no sun .

Have your rooms cycle opposite as the sun.

Then look at a tubular heater or such like, or a ceramic heater as, generally, they consume a lot less power and, depending on the size of the room you could get away with something that uses less than half a kw per hour.

Either way, you need to spend money on heating and if you have a lot of unused space then it would make sense to partition off your grow space so you're not having to heat up so much empty space which means you will save money on heating.

Yes it all works my rdwc acts as a thermal battery

I made a passive heter before just need foam board and aluminum ducting and black paint
Ill show you mine tomorrow im in bed lol

But it all works .....remeber there is energy in light
And most all energy will turn to heat :)

Just painting your floor black will raise the temps but lower reflectivity

If you need help ill be on tomorrow

Insulation TRUMPS ALL FORMS OF HEATERS
Unless you like to try to heat mother nature:)

I went from heating my grow building

To adding more insulation.

Now at 0 degrees i still dont need a dedicated heater or my passive geater anymore :)
Insulate to the max and a dehumidifier will heat the room more then enough

My night time temp hasnt gone below 64 and im in alaska ;)

Thats awesome i was thinking of doing a thicker wall of insulation.
