Height management

Looking for some input.

This is a mostly indica strain (bigbudxxl) and I bought it from ministery of cannabis due to its positing of being a short stocky plant. You can see how close the nodes are so far, and kept the CFLs low to prevent stretch.

Anywho... looking for some input on the following to help manage height in the cab: when to top or FIM and when to induce flowering.

I have 25 inches until it hits the lights, it currently sits at 8 inches.

Current plan is to top or FIM in the next week, then put in a screen to train them under to maximize bud site potential.

So my question:

1) given the current height, when would you turn to flower. 12"? 15"?

2) any opinion on top vs FIM in the case of a small cabinet like this? (1.5×1.5×3)

Thanks in advance!

My rule of thumb for flowering is halfway from stalk base to max height, if the plant can't be trained any further. Expect a doubling of height for any lead branches (i.e. branch tips that are free to grow).
If you're going to lay a screen in, that will change the dynamics of growth, but I think the same outcome will arise once those heads start poking through and are free to continue on their path to the light.

Thanks, doesnt quite answer it though. And personally i have experienced with very indica Dom strains like these, that stretch is only 25-50%.

What height do you think I should put the screen?

An indica usually needs a longer veg to yield as much as a sativa, but some will double in size during flower.

If you've only 3ft height, I'd say you need a bigger grow tent.
How many nodes does your plant have?

Once my plants reach 8-12inches depending on genetics I'd usually flip, but height isn't an issue for me in saying that.

It's just a small stealth cabinet, renting and csnt set up too long or too much. Also trying something new and wasn't sure I would have the space.

You see the picture above, I put a red line where all the nodes are, very very close.

Are you topping captian?

I see your image now, I obvousily wasn't paying enough attention.

I know exactly where your coming from! I'd use that can for clones though.
They actually are pretty damn close, I'd top her & give it a week to recover, If you haven't topped before or your not sure how, search it out & check out FIMing your plant.
Try a little LST too, it'll fatten her up.

I'm vegging 10 afghani fem at the min, they'll never see flower but, going to take clones from the best & run them in dwc buckets scrog.

Looks like a little nute burn on a few fan leaves there too.
Very minor, looks great @mrpuffins keep it up!

Captian I would be interested too on your thoughts on nute burn too, I would argue it's the opposite actually because although some of those first leaves are now crippled, the tops are free of that but all suffer from varying degrees of yellow discolor, I actually asked for help with that in another thread.

The yellow discolor from not getting enough nutes from the start, I ran purposely lighT since it was my first try at dwc, not to mention I dropped a seed almost 3 weeks after you first too and didn't want to roast her
finally got it up to around 500ppm.

Got it all in my journal if you have any feedback
