Helicopters - F.L.I.R.

Anyone live in an area where these damn helicopters are a threat?
I do - I'm near the Canadian border.

F.L.I.R. = Forward Looking Infrared Radar - and it keeps growers awake at night once harvest time comes cuz they're buzzing around everywhere

Every year there are a few busts around here by these pricks in the air.

My questions are:
- anyone know what they 'see' and don't see?
- is one healthy sized plant out in the open visible?
- are there any strategies for keeping the plants safe?
- know where I can buy a shoulder-fired rocket launcher? (kidding)

Thanks for any info

Yes FLIR Is forward looking infra red. It will only detect heat sources at night but if you are hanging around in a field at night, you will stand out and it will look suspect. Someone may come to see why there is someone hanging around in a field at night then you are busted! However it will not be able to detect the plants.

Soultion : Harvest in the day or get some heat shield clothes. If you are in the army this may be an option or you may be able to pick them up somewhere else.

I would try and camouflage the plant with some other plants that are around. Try and mix it in so its not in plane site.

It's a bird it's a plane. O-SHIT it's the WEEDEATER buzzin over my crop........ If anything they are looking for field's full. Not 1 or 2 plants. Try to keep it from looking like the traditional x-mas tree. Top your plant's or tie them down.

i heard that they cant be detected if near pine trees. could be bullshit not sure.

Thanks for the ideas.
No, they're not looking for just a couple. However; a guy at work got pinched for having 10 little ladies. He said the dang 'copter floated overhead and the next thing he knew, 4 or 5 cop & border patrol cars came, and his fun was OVER.

yea the pine trees myth is more that they aren't goin to look in pine trees cuz it cant be seen as easily by the eye and you cant plant a lot in between them. the police look for it growing in grassy fields and large clearings first. where they can see the garden from the sky. They look for stuff out of the ordinary like paths, irrigation, and camps. Don't till up lots of dirt and let some weeds grow to blend in some. even in the fall when colors change you can pull some tall grasses and put it on your plants to camo them. also pull some weeds to cover the soil and mulch. the infra red is to look for people. Generally the copters are out during the day as binoculars and optics are their main tool.

just a story to tell you something. i had my plants spotted and eradicated by helicopters last year when i did an outdoor grow. i learned from my mistakes adn will not make them again. here are some things that will help.
1.always put all tools in a hidden area. weight tarps down or store them in a hidden bin as they can blow away a bit and look trashy around your crop.
2. never ever ever tear up ground cover and leave exposed red clay. move excess dirt out. plant weeds all over the ground or tall grass (something that wont jsut die when u step on it. basically dont let it look disturbed)
3. if you end up putting up a fence to keep out critters, do so not around idividual plants but around plots. not to close to them. allow the fence to be covered by vines, hidden by brush etc. it is something helicopters look for.
4.NEVER LEAVE A WATER CONTAINER IN THE OPEN, EVEN FOR COLLECTING WATER.
5. plant nar very green colored sapplings.
6. if plants around are slightly darker, increase nitrogen feeding.
7. if you ever hear a chopper at night and have a flashlight out to water, turn it off. even if u think its a medical helicopter. just be safe.

i live near the heart of atl and grow in brushy areas that cannot be developed. there are not many of these. i have to deal with alot of fuckin choppers.

one more thing. when u plant. never let anyone see you going sketchy places at night. and do not cut through yards. explore your area in the day some time if you can. if you know the area, u can out run cops. trust me. im just 16 and i was mistaken for a robber that comes constantly. morning report in the neighborhood said that there was 1 chopper(saw that fucker after i got home) 7 patrol cars, 1 undercover cop in a van, and 18 ground units. SO KNOW THE AREA.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I guess that part of the 'fun' is thwarting the law, but these fricken' copters make the game a little unfair. And of course the penalty for losing really suxs.

Let it Grow
