Help a Noob Grower Out Please

I've never grown any weed in my life, really not any plant. So, basically I know nothing about it. I want to grow some of my own outdoors but I can't really afford to get any bags of topsoil or fertilizers.

So, I'm thinking that maybe I could plant a very small amount in some corn fields around me (there are tons of fields) and monitor them there. The thing is I don't know if the type of soil a corn farmer would use would grow pot well. Or if the farmer would fertilize the field enough or whatever else.

Is this a bad idea? Or could it be pulled off? Give me some tips please.

Actually it probably wouldn't be the best idea but it doesn't hurt to try. Many farmers spray their fields with herbicides that would most likely kill your seedlings. I would suggest finding a small patch of prairie grass or a wooded area to plant your seedlings. Since it will most likely not be your property that you're growing on be sure not to take the same path every time to your plants so you don't leave an obvious trail, also you might want to try bending your plant over so it grows parallel to the ground so when the farmer is in his field he doesn't see this huge pot plant growing. It's worth the money to buy good soil to grow your plant in. In my state the soil seems to be rather acidic so unless you have clones or feminized seeds you will most likely get more male plants then you would like. Oh and by the way take a piss around your plants every time you go and visit them to deter critters from eating your babies. Hopefully that was helpful.

Happy Smoking,

i would stick to some east/west facing road sides or areas not as frequented. Definately not the middle of a corn field. Corn is some nasty stuff and it gets really tall. I wouldn't like going into the corn field at night either. Even if it gets tall enough to reach over the corn it can be easilly seen. read my chisel plow thread, and the pine forest thread for some tips.

Thanks man. I might as well just get some top soil and fertilizer and do it right then. So, should I just get some bags of top soil and find a wooded area and make me a little patch? How do I go about doing it right?

It all depends on what you can get away with with out being seen by anybody. If you can sneak through the woods somewhere i would say yes. Use soil and make a patch. grow them indoors first if you can, sex them, then then sneak them to the spot. If not just be sneaky and do it right without as many supplies/ big bags of soil.

To start them indoors, do I need a light source? Or will it sprout without light on it constantly? Then I could transplant it outside when it needs it?

they will sprout in some wet paper towel in a baggie in the dark. but need dirt and light as soon as the roots pop.

I don't have a light source or even a place where i could grow them indoors really without being caught, so should i sprout them in a towel and just go straight outdoors with them?

Also, if I find a place thats kinda far from my house, will I have to haul water and stuff back and forth a bunch? Or is it not that much work to be a big hassle. I don't know how often I could be going to water and fertilize my plants without someone getting suspicious.

read my chisel plow method for some guerilla tips. you can get water crystals really easy. to help w/ water issues and use extended release fertalizer as well

Okay cool. Thanks.

Heres something else. If I plant just one germinated seed in a cup, how much light will I need for it to grow? I'm not looking to do a large grow here, just a small plant to learn some basics. I have lamps and aquarium lights if those would work on just one plant...

lots of corn feilds are monitered for marijuana plants being grown in them. and yes. they can spot these plants from helecopters. if u really need some soil bad, go somewhere in the forest and dig up some decent black soil. then mix it with some rotten fluffy wood(fallen tree). take this. use it as ur soil. another option would be to jack like 10 dollars worth of soil sitting outside of an ace hardware at night and cart it away. no one would hunt you down for very long just for that.

yea that is actually a superb idea it's called a terra server.
My town is too small to even show up clear enough to find a spot really. I'll just take a walk through the woods nearby and find a spot.

BTW, anyone know about the light thing?

Slow down find you spot. Prep your soil. Wait till there is no sign of frost for at least 2-3 week's. Then start seed's inground. {I put mine in ground may 24 CANADA} Don't just jump on the first idea you hear, find some think that work's for you. The better you care for the plant's the better they are to you. You can just dig a hole and piss on it and it will grow, but is that what you want. The difference between an ounce and a pound per plant is care. You don't need money to grow mix your own soil like mentioned BY JOHNB93 and other's in many other thread's. Many organic method's are very cost effective. :eyesmoke:HAPPY GROWING:eyesmoke:

Sweet. Thanks man. I'm gonna go find a spot tomorrow. How do I prep the soil? And should I use regular soil that is already there and just till it or buy my own top soil and spread it?

Also, if I get my own soil, should I enclose it all around with rocks or something like in a garden? Sorry I'm totally a noob at this. Just looking to straighten everything out so I get a decent grow.
