Help buying and building my first cob light.

6 cobs in a 2x2. Seems like a lot. But one kit was going in my bigger grow room to compare side by side with a other led panel that I have.

And if someone could let me know if I would need to buy a taller tent as mine is only 4ft or could I grow short ones with this?

I run only 3500k in flower right now and its working just fine. When we are new at this(I still consider myself new with DIY LED) its easy to get caught up in "overdesign", splitting hairs over efficiency and spectrum. You bought some good gear, that will produce plenty of good flowers. Lighting, in my belief, is one of the least important variables in smaller scale cultivation, provided you generate enough photons in that area. The kits you mentioned will produce a generous amount of said photons.
Hook em up, get the conditions where they need to be, watch them produce....

Looks good. That's all it takes. Are you soldering? If so, I prefer stranded wire because it holds at many points in the solder and makes a really solid connection. Solid core takes one wrong twist and the entire wire can pop loose from the solder. Just my preference anyway.

Yes I am but have solid Core. On the potentiometer, positive goes first then neg right. And the 3rd is left alone

So the light has to be atleast 12" from reaching ceiling in my tent? If so then I will have to buy a other tent. Mine is only 4ft tall. I'm not trying to make huge plants. That's what I have my 6x6 shed room for. Could I grow small plants in a 4ft tall with cobs. Or will that be a bit too much and buy a taller tent?
No, they need to be 12" from the tops of the plants.

I have built lights of my own and shown them on RIU many times. I also grow outdoors and have shown that on RIU. I have used the same account for many years and never owned or used another. I also don't follow you around, I have only ever commented a few times in both our histories on RIU. You can believe I'm someone else following you around for whatever reason you imagine in your head, that much I am fine with.

I merely pointed out that you were completely wrong about UV and IR in your previous statement. I have not stated anything nasty to you ever even though you're acting like someone just slapped you senseless. I won't be drawn into some kind of flaming war like you have just attempted to start by stating lies about me. Your character is easily seen by others in your inflammatory and insensitive comments and it needs nothing added by me.

This was meant to be a discussion about lights, not an attack on my character. I'd appreciate it if you stop with your smear campaign and just leave me and everyone else in here with comments about the lights in question. Thanks.
I have noticed that this guy is utterly incapable of two things - 1. Admitting he got something wrong, mixed up or backwards. 2. Carrying on a polite conversation with anyone that disagrees with him in the slightest way.

For the sake of everyone reading someone's incorrect information regarding color and wavelength:

Compare to the charts below and decide for yourself.

Notice the bump in IR range of the 5000k LM561C at 450nm. compared to the 3000K LM561C . Nice bump in 450nm from the 5000K
UV at 710 - 750 is similar with most diodes with NO bump for any Samsung product as the light spectrum is becoming invisible. The 3000k has a slight increase in 710nm over 5000K.

On another note, the design of the GrowGreen 200w board is mine but the diodes are made by Samsung. If you do NOT have a GrowGreen 200w board your opinion is based on non-factual information or what they call nowadays FAKE NEWS.

Pretty sure it's neg on the left and pos in the middle. Here's a pic of another thread. It's obviously a 50k pot using 2 wires soldered together for each terminal but it shows you proper orientation and also shows a 5k resistor added.

Really them I did those wrong I'll have to re do it. I put positive then neg.
But it came to a stop. One of my bjb holders clip on the back broke. So it was not touching the cob which made them or turn on. So now ordered another and some extras. Have to wait.

But I tried my 2 cob kit and that one turned on. Wow are cobs bright. On the 120h-48a. It has 2 knobs. Or screws. Which is the one to dim the lights? Left or right? If anyone has this driver. Thanks.

So today my parts came in and after a couple of tries, I got it to turn on. I'll post a picture when the lights come on. I hung them up while lights where off. Thanks for all the help you guys provided

Can't you just admit that you are blathering nonsense about UV at 710 - 750 instead of turning everything into an ad hominum attack on people that try to correct the facts for the benefit of others ?

I makes absolutely no difference, potentiometers have no polarity. It will work as long as one wire connects to the center terminal on the pot and the other wire connects to a terminal on either side of the center terminal. Wired as shown, turning clockwise is brighter. If the wire were moved from the right side of the pot to the left, turning clockwise would be dimmer.

Nice rig ya got going. My only suggestion would be to bring the COBs in 1.5" to 2"from the sides. Losing light footprint to the sides of the tent. For vegging....if no dimming available, keep height min. 18"-24". Lookin good!!!
