Help me build 4 vertical strips for my tent

So by increasing photosynthesis from 10 to 15 or a 50% jump, does this equate to 50% increase in yield ?

Nope, unfortunately not! Photosyntesis scales not linear but like on the pic below. You get around 80% at 700μMol/s but for 98% you need twice as much intensity.
It is generally accepted consensus that 700-800 μmol/s is the most optimal intensity. These are the often said 30-35w/sft.

ok, i think i am gonna go with the 4 plants i have in the tent into flowering. have some other clones, but these are doing well and ahead of the others. have another 2 tents for others strains.

so, the GHOST TRAIN HAZE plants have some lengthy nodes and will have to be flowered when 8". the MK-Ultra which is already sexually mature is already 8" tall and is a clone of a very vigorous plant, will probably get topped soon to slow its upward growth. the bogglegum is bringing up the rear in height, but appears to be a healthy plant.

just for shits and grins (i know very little about lux, lumens, light meters, etc...) i downloaded the GALACTICA LUXMETER app to my phone. here is what it gave me. how is this? my 600w HPS gave me almost 10K from 14-16" away.

X represent plants. took a reading on all 4 corners of each plant. cheap free app, but it gives me an idea of coverage.

well tonight, i'm smoking some of my Sour Wreck (trainwreck ibl x Sour Diesel) and it got me thinking :eyesmoke:.

before when i took the 8.5K lux reading, the horizontal lights were roughly 16" from the phone. so i raised the horizontal bars, and started taking lux readings again. the horizontal strips were now roughly 4 feet from the phone and all of my readings from plant level, 1', 2' and 3' off the top of the dwc tubs, read between 7.5K and 8.5K.

so coverage is awesome. even when the horizontal lights are so high they will no longer be in play (with a 3-4' tall plants) the lux readings at the bottom of the plant still read 7.5K (that's all side lighting. of course plants will block some light and reduce lux readings when they get bushy, but this should be tremendously better than the penetration of my 600w hps.

first, i had to keep the 600 14-16" above the canopy and as you can see in this photo the lux reading at that point is roughly 10K, like i read with my phone. well if i have a 3-4' tall plant you can clearly see how lumens drop off. the bottom of the plant is really suffering. and i always had under developed and small popcorn buds that went into concentrates.




so basically i am going to predict the hps might make some tighter, fatter buds on the main colas, but overall i think the LEDS will give me a higher yield due to the more consistent coverage.

with the hps about the best i ever did was probably in the 1.1 gpw range.

if i can reach 1 gpw with the f-cloak, i could yield 1.75 lbs. that would be 7 ozs per plant average. indoor, in a tent, with the 600 hps the best i have ever done on one plant was 6 ozs.

looking at the chart again and realizing my very best buds on the HPS plants were in the 5K-12K range of lumens, 7.5-8.5K everywhere in the tent should ROCK :fire:

trying to get an amp reading on the system. what am i doing wrong?

setting multimeter to DCA 20ma, placing my probes inline on the positive DC side and turning on the driver.

getting no reading, but i am no electrician, obviously...

uh oh, even at 200ma i think my meter falls short of what i need.

You need to connect the multimeter in series behind strips so that the current flows through the strips and thru the multimeter.
You have not only to use the correct setting, you also need the correct input pole on the multimeter because there are mostly two inputs and one output.
The settings below are for amp readings of up to 10A...

cool, think i had it hooked up correctly, but my meter doesn't have an option high enough on the DC amp side.

i have another meter.... somewhere, lol..

That chart is interesting and makes some clear data easy to visualize.
Where do you suppose the typical 1 CXB3590 cob per sq ft model would land?

It can read up to 500v but maxed out at 200mA. Unfortunately, there is a scratch right where it is and you can not read it anymore!

It's difficult to say where a single CXB would be in the list.
One way to use the list above could be to measure your CXB3590 at eg. 12inch and find the appropriate spot in the list. Now you can see from the list how the values would change if you change the hanging height.
But the list start with 150w and is made for hps bulps with 360° radiation and reflector, typical CXB3590 runs between 50 and 80w.
This tool is far better to estimate different light values from lumen, you can estimate PAR, μMol/s and other values simply by appliing total lumen, spectrum, heights and length of the light, which is much more important for us.
