My friends plants are 7 ft tall and still growing. My plants are 5 ft and have bigger flowers. His plants are the same straind as mine. I have been trying to talk him into taking off 20% of his big fan leaves so he can get more sun to his flowers. and he will not do it. I think is a big mistake. What do you all think?

I couldn't tell ya. Never had a plant that large with so many fan leaves. A 20% reduction doesn't seem that much and would surely get more light to the flowers.

I say go for it only in moderation, because leaves = photosynthesis = food for your girl.

There's differing camps on this but to throw my butt out here I remove the ones blocking any buds from sunlight. That also keeps them from dying off on the buds. <by dying off I mean after yellowing they tend to fall off and hang up on the nearest thing, then they're blocking the bud from light and giving mold a place to grow>

As long as he doesn't go overboard, it will serve as beneficial to get a few of the big fan leaves out of the way in my opinion.

But I have heared that removing some of the big leaves can help. Some people that I know state they get a extra 1/2 lb or so by doing that. hmmmmmmm
