some one told me that i could not use this bulb in a lamp is that true?

Well I am sure something will grow but it is no where near enough light. Go to GrowFAQ and see what type of lights will fit your budget, style and size of your grow.

i know its not enough light but some one told me not to put it in a lamp will it be ok if i put it in a lamp??

u got 1 cfl there,,u need like 3 4 5 more of those if u want to grow marijuana growfaq on the spectrum that u need

yeah u can use it in a lamp,but if u use that light to grow marijuana,,,u will not be happy at all

why its a CFL

u know what use that liight to grow marijuana go for it,,,im tellig u u need more light,,a lot more cfls,,and u need the right one for veg and the right ones for flowering,(,if yr using cfls,,which i would never do to flower a plant,,just to veg it) GROFAQ

So he know's it's not enough light, his question is can he use that bulb in a lamp?

for one, its only a 9w bulb so its not going to due much for you at all. I wouldnt bother tryin to use it to grow. You need at least 4 23w CFL's 6500k for veg. Make shure you look at the actual wattage and not the incandescent equal wattage. Like that bulb you pictured is equal to a 40w standard incandescent bulb but its actually only 9w's.

EDIT: And yes it will screw into a regular lamp and work just fine.
