Help us address our 'heat?' problem...

Ok, so we are have I am presuming heat issues.

We have 3(origiannly 4) hps lights for our 4 plants. Turned one off because of the heat issues. We have a 10" exhaust on the floor exhausting straight up out of the tent. The intake is a 6" fan pulling air from a slot in our boarded up window straight into the tent. Its higher than the exhaust. Not sure if this matters.

We have a reservoir set up feeding into straight coco every 3 hours and a drainage set up.

All this is seen in the photos. We are getting temps ranging from 33 Celsius to 40 Celsius. Today when we went in it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Let us know your opinions or anything you might think could help us sort out this temp issue. The plants seem to be growing fine except for the taco on the leaves.

The exhaust is venting into a grill in the wall and out of the actual room...

-intake should be on the bottom pushing fresh air in

-exhaust should be at the top pulling the hot air out

-the openings on both side of each vent must have at least the same clearance as the vents diameter for proper operation, do not obstruct it.

-take readings from a shaded thermometer.

What model lights are you using?

Ambient temps with lights off?

Lights are off now and the temps are at 27 cel and 83-84 faren with the lights off. Same as todays outdoors temp. All our readings are from a shaded area.

How much of a difference will it make if we swap the intake to ground level and exhaust up high...? My mate is worried about hanging the carbon filter and fan to the bar in the tent. We have a decent seahawk tent that came with straps. Will it support the weight easily?

Are we running too many hps lights for the tent size? its 3 600w hps(still have 1 more we would ideally like to use too) in 2.9m x 1.4m tent.

The slit in the window board could be cut more to size so we will get onto right away. Its currently about half the size just for stealth reasons but will compromise.

Sorry to say you may not be able to get away with that setup, not without an A/C or waiting for winter.

85f with the lights off is pretty dang hot & risky with a res.
you WILL get a temperature rise in the tent especially with open HPS bulbs.

It is imperative that you get the exhaust outlet/carbon filter as high in the tent as possible. Heat rises. Intake at the bottom. Your tent will support the carbon filter even though it will look like it's holding on for dear life. I like to wrap a couple pieces of Jack chain around the CF in addition to the straps. 1800w is about right for ~36sq ft if my math is correct, but you May want to run ac'd air into the tent and tent exhaust to air return, or wait till outdoor temps drop. Run lights on at night.

2x 600W should go fine in there, more if you can duct the lights separately.

With the temps on the 80's I'd replace the HID with LED until winter time.

Your exhaust should be as high as possible because heat rises. You don't want to suck out the colder air on the bottom. You need to pump in colder air. Your air from outside your window is much too hot.
