Help with 2x2x4 setup.

Hello, cannabis community. I am having trouble with a noob problem (Considering I'm a noob with very acute knowledge.) and I'd like some helpful advice on the subject.

I have a 2x2x4 grow tent and all I have done so far was pick out the CFLs I'd like to use for veg time. I picked 4 60w 6500k spiral CFLs. Still deciding on if those are even the right light source I want. What light source would be the best option for my grow area? I think I'd like to have at least 2 plants and at most 4. I want to do Scrog to maximize my yields. That being said, what would be a good strain for me to grow and what are some ways help maximize yield? I would like a link to some info about nutrients and grow medium as well. I want potent, healthy buds and the highest achievable yield with the best light source in my available space.

Sorry if this has been asked, I've been researching for a couple months now and just cannot decide on anything. I just want to make sure I'm taking care of them the way I need to. Any help and advice is appreciated.

This was my cfl veg 2x2x4 with 3 afghanis back from mid march.20170405_110143.jpg
3x 65w 6500k cfls i mainly used. Heat was a bitch so make sure to vent good. . 3 is overcrowded in 3 gals id do 2 plants. Ive done (2) single plant runs that took up the whole box, mainlined and topped which worked out really well
Would need lower kelvin bulbs for flower

I used fox farm ocean forest with added perlite, and only needed to water for up to 4 weeks, then transplant into more Fresh soil for flower. Only gave bloom nutes 3rd week of flower

Would you mind telling me your yield for each of those plants so I can get an idea of how much I can smoke each month? I assume my setup will work then as long as I get ventilation then, right?

The first link in my sig is a Scrog grow in a 2x2.5 with 175w COB LED and that netted 7oz. Mind you I have been indoor growing for over 25 years so I wouldn't expect it.

I run a heater, humidifier and dehumidifier along with fans and filter on timers and controllers. Light = Yeald and quality on grower talent. It will take you awhile to get proficient. I would start with a auto flower.

Proper curing is a game in itself . Your looking at minimum 4 months germination to smoke time.

Those plants in the pic were not topped or low stressed trained. 1 ended up being a herm in week 4 so i tossed it, n i flowered 2 of em. Not with them cfls but got into diy led and flowered with my new light. I got about. 30-40 grams dried from each plant. Light, Growing medium, genetics, airflow and ventilation are key, but there r sooo many variations that come into play when talking about yeild.
I ran 1 plant b4 and got 3 zips from that. Compared to having more plants can focus on 1 this was a 3 zip plant that was cut early due to seeds and yes weighed without seeds of course20170904_114134.jpg

Photoperiod plants are more forgiving than autos.. They say not to top an auto, they say its not recommended to transplant them either. How can techniques be used and learned on a sensitive plant like an auto compared to a photoperiod.

What strain do you use and what strains would you recommend for a noob like me?

I also have a 400w 2700k HPS for flowering, do you think that could change yields or is it only during veg where that would matter?

Just grow it full out without any kind of training, transplanting, was just thinking of ways that he could get his feet wet. Scroging is an advanced technique to do well and not all strains Scrog well.

Reading his post he sees all the success from growers on here and wants that too. It took us awhile to get to this point. There is no easy answer for him as he has to fit what he wants to do grow wise into his lifestyle. A tent and lights are a good start and he will need ventilation.

That would do great for flower. Really dont need to push alot of watts in veg, but in veg youre in control of your plant and you how you want it.

Yes yes good point. I was soo scared to do anything but water it and let it grow starting out. Its good to get accustomed to growing from start to finish, to get a good understanding of how she grows. Read read read learn learn learn

Been growing those all year. Did squueze in a jackie white clone this year also. I started indoor growing in February after not growing for 6 years (outdoors). Been learning and improving everyday. We all start somewhere. Think you will do good!

Most people think they will just hand water until they realize mid flower that they have to water every day for the next month and a half lol. So many diffrent grow styles to adapt too to make it your own.

I figured an Auto with Fox farm ocean Forrest soil and just water. Still need ph up and down with some added CalMag.

Growweedeasy.com and study it. After a grow or two under your belt you should have a better understanding of what you want to do. If you don't want to do a auto look for easy strains to grow. Some take more abuse than others.

Thanks for all the help! Like, you guys have helped me immensely. I have been trying to research as much as possible for the past two months and I think I'm ready to start in a couple weeks.

Thank you for the good wishes Rolla J!

Do you think Blue Dream would be good for me? I've heard they are pretty resistant and good for new growers. I will for sure take a look at that sight tomorrow, after work!

Its real, real, easy to try and do WAY too much in the early days. Sound advice ^^^
That, I will actually keep in mind! Thanks.

Next to nothing..
I didnt have any room b4 either so i threw this together to start. Really didnt like the cfls due to heat. This spot was temporary til i built another diy light. I had it under this spot in the pic for 2 weeks til i got the new veg area ready. I had heat b4 i moved em in their new home. If those cfls are what u r using, yes vent out that cfl heat20170629_220935-1.jpg

With a 4 ft tent you pretty much have to scrog. There isn't enough room to let the plants grow after you get a decent size planter at the bottom and then the room the filter and lights take at the top. That leaves you with about 12-18 inches of growth space.
