Help With CPU. I Cannot download software

Hello All, After a recent update, I cannot use my GD enter button here to start a new paragraph, and when I try to download software, the only option I get is to open or save the file, which has an underscore instead of a "." in front of the exe I am running Avast, on Windows 7, I think it updated to IE10. I also have TOR which installs Firefox. I think that may be the problem, but I do not know how to get rid of Firefox without losing TOR. Any help is sincerely appreciated. Thank you for looking.

As far as i know TOR is only used with Firefox

Did you try hitting your computer? Just a quick backhand to show it who wears the pants in your house.

Until you find a permanent solution to your problem, you may want to revert to a restore point of an earlier date before the update when everything worked fine. Do a search for 'Restore Point', choose a date where everything last worked and restore to that configuration. Everything should work the same as before the update, let us know if it works. Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas. Restore was the first thing I tried. I was amazed that it did not work. I suspect that it might be Avast. I will report back. Thanks again.

tips/options to try:
Change the compatability mode to IE 9, IE 10 mode is dodgy

Disable all the addons and restart your browser.
If that works, enable addons you need one by one to see if any of them causes the problem.

IE 10 has a few scripting problems, an option could be to reinstall java.

uninstall avast, reboot and reinstall

I think they patched the patch though.

Goddamn IE10. I deleted it from my programs, and not only was I able to download files, it cleared up a problem here that was keeping me from being able to use the Enter button to start a new paragraph/space down. Thank you. +Rep to both of you.
