Hi all

ive been coming to this site for a while now its very informative but ive only just got round to registering, so a big hello from me to you.

ive done a bit of growing before but now my kids are growing up ive got to be a bit more descreet having half a dosen plants on the windowsill not a good idea.
so im trying out my home made grow bucket and at the momnent seems to be going ok.
i got hold of a 150 litre toughend plastic drum about 15 inches in diameter. i cleand and disinfected it stuck some air holes in the side and lid. on the inside i stuck on black/white reflective sheeting and atached a normal household light fitting. i started with a 100w bulb in this but found this to be a bit too much in such an ennclosed space so i dropped down to a 40w which seems to being doing just fine.

i will keep you all posted as to how this goes and will add some pics so you can see what i mean.

anyway great site. keep it real.

all the best

hi again.
just to let you know, the grow bucket hasn't worked. not sure why. it started off ok, grew to about 6 inches, then started turning yellow and then shrivelled up. i think it might have been because it was too much off an enclosed space and not enough air circulating. so it looks like i need to set-up the hydro.
you all take care
cheers

Sounds like a lighting issue. You cannot use a regular incadescent light bulb. Try looking into some CFLs. And also keep them close to the plant about 1-2" so they do not stretch.
