Hlg 300 rspec vs hlg 650r

So im setting up a 7.5'x35' shipping container and i was planning on doing two 3x35 rows with a 1.5' walkway in the center. My origonal plan was to do 10 lights on each side so 20 total equaling 6k watts total. I can get these lights foe $380 each . my buddy has the hook up on tbe 650rs for just under $500. They don't fit the foot print of my room set up tho, and if i run them in the same configuration I feel like I would be wasting a ton of light . my buddy said it would work fine if I crank the co2 but i still think they would be overkill. Any suggestions? Should i just get the 650r and dim them to half ? Would that make the LEDs last longer ? Thanks. I also attached a picture of8x40 reefer 200923155837.jpeg my room layout

If those are the real HLG 650's for that cheap I'd get those for sure. That's a crazy deal. You can dim them if you need to.

And ya, they will last longer if they're run softer.

Cool that's kind of what i was thinking. i just wasn't sure if the spread of the light would affect the yield if I was dimmed down . it would be the same wattage but spread out since the fixture is twice the size of the 300rspec

Hell ya. It'll work sweet. Even better than the 300's. You'll also have a more even spread. That's a crazy price though. They're over a grand a piece normally. If I could get them that cheap, I'd buy more lights that I don't need and can't afford, lol. I seriously would bust out the credit card if I could get it that cheap. I'd probably buy a bunch of them.

HLG 300r or Growcraft X3 500w. HLG 300r covers 3x3 and Growcraft X3 covers 3x5. The 650r is a poor choice for your footprint, it's intended for 5x5. Even if you dim it you will be lighting up your walkway which is a waste IMO.

What are you talking about? The 650's will fit perfectly. Even better than the ChilLed. I'm a fan of ChilLed, but I would take the used 650's over the X3's in a heartbeat.
The 650's dimensions are 26" x 21.25" x 4".
The X3 is 42.5 in x 19.5 in x 1.375 in.

So run the 650r's at 50% to cover the same sq footage as the HLG 300 running @100%? That's gonna cost the OP an extra $2400 for minimal gains.

factor in up front cost and your not going to beat the 650's. nothing will be wasted imo.
