Heh, funny you mention that because I plan on setting up an indoor DWC pepper garden in a tent and do a small vertical (stacked) grow on a shelf with some microgreens both using some LED strips. I could dedicate a shelf or some space in a tent to some lettuce cultivars. I'll probably use 3500k for the peppers and 4000k for the vertical shelf.

They are 39mm which is a bit over 1.5 inches.

Nope. Samsung data sheet says they are exactly 39.8mm, which is 1.56 inches long.

The alu channel I use is 3" or 74mm wide, the tape is for alignment and to mask off the area that gets thermal paste. I pull it off after the strips are mounted.

There is a difference between UV and blue. CMH produces UV, leds do not.

I will put this up just because I found it interesting in regards to absorption peaks for the different photoreceptors. Not to disregard the mcree curve or anything, just thought it might be helpful.

cmh are mostly double jacketed with glass that takes out alot of the uv right?

We will see if LED tech has come along. One light built already with the parts for 4 more sitting around. Going with 3 of the units in my 4x8 to try to replace 750 watts of DE HPS.

They know they haven't got a credible argument against HLG. Steve and Robin's products are well documented in RIU; by numerous people who have tested their products... and now these products are well-known as products that work, supported by guys you can trust, despite the naysayers trying to say otherwise lol, And hence why they cannot answer questions or post evidence to the contrary.

They are simply taking their frustration out on people who have "Bought" HLG products/Know that they work/and now support the company. they are stuck in their worldview, which is sadly based on opinions rather than facts and evidence.

My advice is, do not waste time getting caught up in arguments with such folk, because no matter how much evidence you present, once they have formed an opinion logic tends to fly out of the window :peace:

That rig is the cheapy build, all built out of 1/16" angle and u-channel every piece is pop riveted together including the strips. Total cost for the build was $236 for 260 some watts at the wall.
Next builds are all going to be on 1" heatsinks with a modular design so I can add some of these in between the strips.
