Home depot LEDs

Anybody using these 4' shoplight LEDs yet? The reviews (from homeowners) say they are a ton brighter than floros and run a lot cooler. I'm trying to get away from the hot CFL's for my small veg garden and wondering if they work good or not for veg only.

I rewired 2 @ 2 bulb 4 ft shop lights and bought 4 x 18w tubes, primarily to use as supplemental lighting, but also for vegging. Works well.

BUT, not enough juice on their own to flower (4 x ~ 18w= 72w). Keep in mind those watts are spread over 4 ft AND l/w are on the low side. Recently I have come across 28w tubes, BUT, they are $70 per.

Well, I'm workin' with roughly 60"x30"x36" (LXWXH) and I got a 6 socket bathroom fixture full of 100w equiv. CFL's and they can get pretty hot...like upper 80's low 90's on a hot weather day (I'm in the deep south lol). The CFL's are working fine with the fan pulling cooler air over them but I'm looking for something a little more compact since, out of that 36" height, the CFL's take up 6-7" along with the fixture. (closet...veg and flower crammed in there)

Check out my little cabs. The LED's will pull double PAR #'s even at reduced wattage, although the packages will still measure only lumen #'s. They also generally have less heat output in general because of the heatsink.

I use bathroom fixtures in my big cab w/ [6x]the Phillips 3000k 10w Led Bulbs, they are about 2 inches shorter than the Cfl's. The Cree's too.

I also ran 155 watts of Cfl in my small cab and now I run 64 watts of LED bulbs. Heat is way more manageable and usually right in the sweet spot 75-77 and yield has only suffered because I keep wrecking chit, otherwise yield is still improving....

Tags420 did PAR comparisons of the Cree 9.5w bulbs. They were over double in PAR over the 26 watt CFL equivalent. Search High Efficency lighting or tags420, I don't have time to post it just this 2nd, but I will come back if you can't find or are interested.

I have been doing a price comparison since I bought my LED bulbs [10/2013] and I haven't lost a single LED bulb [x16] but I still veg with CFL and have gone thru about [6-8x] 5000k and 2700k's.

Once veg is LED too, I am done with CFL.
