How am I doing?

Hey, it's my first grow so I just need some reassurance. Just look at the pictures if you could and let me know how things look. The bottom leaves look bad because I accidentally burned them the first day under the light. Just let me know how they look (maybe a little droopy b/c of overwatering). I have been watering sparsely though.

they lookin mighty tasty bra ... aside from that light brun lol... Good lookin indica strain though, ya gonna get some nice buds from dos girls man . is that bagseed or did ya buy from a bank?

looks good to me

nice looking plants. if your unsure about watering then stick your finger about 2 inches down into the soil if its dry your plant needs a little water. if it feels wet then let it dry out a day or two. its always good to let your soil dry now and then because it causes the roots to grow in search of moisture. better roots better plants.

k i appreciate it. yeah i use the finger test, but i was just unsure as to how a plant should look exactly at this stage, because uh heh ive never seen one. its bagseed from what was called "grape goo". not sure exactly but it is an indica. just going with bagseed to get my bearings before i step up to some good genetics.

yeah your absolutely right. i stretched her pretty bad right after germ. i fixed it a little after the first transplant and i plan on burying her all the way up almost to the first node on the last transplant (if anyone thinks this is a good idea?). right now she is under a 600w hps in a tiny (2.5x2.5x5) space. heating has been a bit of an annoyance, but is under control now.

Also:
Being the first grow, I tried to keep things fairly simple with my soils. I used a 1:1:1 worm castings to peat moss to perlite mixture with an added 1 tbs/gal of both hydrated lime and bone meal.
I sprinkled some blood meal and watered in only once so far.
Each time I water, I water with light to medium concentration of 10-15-10 shultz indoor/outdoor plant food and a drop of superthrive.

Two questions (and a third i hope noone will have to answer):
Should I have mixed 1tbs/gal of blood meal in the mix for more nitrogen during veg and saved the bone meal for flowering?

and

For my last transplant, should I step up and use a better soil mixture or am I ok with this? I was thinking that if I stayed with the simple soil, I would make some guano tea for watering. (Not exactly sure how frequently to use this though) There is a hydroponics shop in my area so everything is available.

or

Have I messed everything up?

Here are some current pictures. She really seemed to perk up after I topped her, let dry out real well, then gave her a good watering again. I also clipped off some dead tissue from the tips of a few leaves and a set of small bottom leaves that were badly burned by heat in the beginning.

i've watered in one light sprinkle (1/3tbs) of blood meal with good response. Looks like the leaves have potential to be a little healthier though. i'll post pics when i get the camera back.

anyways, how often should i do this? or...how often is it safe to do this?

i understand blood meal to be a bit harsh, but it seems to be working. maybe switch to a tea for even better results? any advice is appreciated.

Depending on your watering scedule, I would say its safe to give, every other water. Just like regular nutes.

wow thank you so much. i walked in this morning to see my baby all wilted and pointing straight down. i sprinkled on about 1/3 tbs. of blood meal and thoroughly watered. no more than 8 hours later growth looked SO green and beautiful and all the leaves were perkier than i have ever seen them. guess i've got a little work to do before i get my feeding and watering schedules down...

everything looks great now. i ditched the shultz 10-15-10 crap and went to the hydro store and bought a bottle of bio vega by biocanna. working well so far, so i think im gonna stick with the biocanna organic bloom formulas as well. the guy at the store uses them exclusively and it looks like a good product (hey, it comes from the netherlands...it can't be bad). made the final transplant today as well. stuck with the same soil recipe except i went ahead and mixed in 1tbs/gal of bone meal as well as dolomite and blood meal. ill be nuting with the bio vega. she is looking very healthy thanks for all the help from everyone. +rep to snowman i guess this is turning into my unofficial grow journal!

The issue with your plants is watering. If you pour water until it runs out the drain holes when it's time to water, then wait for the soil to dry out completely (but before the plant starts wilting) you will never have a problem with watering again. 'Dry out completely' means exactly that. Not 2 inches, not 3 inches - ALL of the soil completely dry. Simply repeat that process throughout your grow and all will be fine with the watering end of things. This is how most experienced growers do it - I have been doing it for over 25 years - and it is the most natural and effective way to water. Keep in mind that the bloom cycle is a little trickier, only because you don't want your plants to do any wilting at all in bloom. (You don't want them to ever do it, but they will recover quickly while in veg, bloom is a little different.) Trust me on this. You'll be glad you did.
