How am I doing?

Hey

This is my second grow.

setup:

Closet grow with air cooled 400w HPS, 100mm RVK fan+carbon filter, passive intake.

Using 6x3gal pots with my own compost/perlite mix.

Canna terra vega+bloom nutes.

My plants are vegging and about 4 weeks old from planting seed. The seeds were germinated in rockwool then transplanted into small pots (3L Allmix) then up to these big'uns about 2 days ago. They've been fed once at 25% strength. And I've been watering about once per week with PH water. My soil PH is between 6.6-6.9.

Ave temp 26-28c and humidity 30-50%.

Plants are avg. 10 inches now.

I had a few problems with over watering, little bit of nute burn and mg deficiency. I sprayed with epsom salts and cease feeding and watering for a few days. This thread is here:

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/7417-recurring-grow-problem.html

They are looking better but still growing slowly (maybe this is a little shock?).

What do you think? How long shall I wait to flower and do you think they'll start growing a little quicker soon?

Well considering the problems above, everything looks good. Just make sure you keep your water in check by not overwatering them agian. If it were me I would have that cooltube around 10inches above the canopy. Hopefully your exhaust is strong enough to allow you to do so. And yes they are growing a little slow, but they should perk up. I would start flowering when the nodes begin to alternate. Just make sure you have the room becuase you should expect your plants to double in size. Hope this helps

Goodluck~

Thank you seedlessone,

I will try to bring that tube down like you say, It might be helpful if I stick an oscillating fan in there too.

Sorry can you explain what you mean by alternating nodes?

Yes, I was going to start flowering when my plants were at 30% of my total height . They are Skunk#1 which is indica/sativa in the ratio 1:3 respectively.

first off you need a fan like you stated to get a breeze in your room. This will thinken the stems which is a most. You want you plants to fall over but not to early :) Well you can judge when you want to flower. Just remember your plants are gonna double in size or more. Alternating nodes is when you nodes begin to grow out seperatly. If you look at your nodes now they should both grow out of the same point at the same time. Well when you nodes alternate you will have say for example: one node coming out of the left side and then a little ways up the right node will grow out, making them uneven nodes=alternating nodes. LOL i hope that made sense...probably not

Oh yeah if you put ducting on the other side of the cool tube and then run it out of your cab, you will get much cooler temps.

Yeah seedless that made perfect sense I just wasn't aware it happened.

I'm not sure about the cooltube idea though.

Have a look at my current ventilation:

Sorry about the annotations, I hope they aren't patronising. I just wanted to show exactly what was what.

I was just trying to show that I'm relying on the exhaust fan through the cooltube to remove air from the cabinet, so I can't seal the other end unless I added a separate fan for that.

Gee dude, I like your setup, pretty nice job.
I'm kinda blasted right now, and have nothing to say, I just wanted to look at your pics!
Peace

Carbon scrubbers work much better sucking air threw them. If you can put the carbon scrubber inside you cab. Have the air sucking threw the filter, then the muffler, going threw the cool tube, and finally outside of you cab.

Yup that does sound like a good idea. The only problem is I'm quite limited to space in there and not sure if I could fit it all in. But it's something I'll do when I get a bigger cabinet.

Greg green says in the Cannabis grow bible that the room must be completely lightproof during flowering, and even the slightest light leak will decrease yields.

For my grow, light escapes through the intake grill. I'm curious as to how other people have solved this problem.

You are doing fine! This website has some great information....and is a great source for tips. Remember...getting rid of the smell is the most important....folks will know you are growing by smell, before they see anything. Regarding the light during flower cycle....do your best to block out any light, but don't worry too much....they will still flower...but you might not get the maximum yield. Grow Strong!

this is what you do....take say 2 and half feet of that 4inch ducting you are using. remove the intake vent cover you have now and cut a 4inch hole into the side. Then put that 4inch ducting into the hole in a U shape> this way no light can get in b.c light cant turn corners! goodluck

PS remember duct tape is your friend!

not the best advice....complete darkness is a must for flowering...this causes hermies more importantly than effecting yeild.

Cheers man,

I thought it'd involve some corners. Time to get the saw back out I'm thinking.

I definitely want as close to 100% lightproof as possible.

Peace.
