I planted a little late im in the NE US and I don't want the frost to kill them. I can't cover them but if i fertilize them with just phosphate will it help force it to flower? thanks

I have no idea. I would hope that they might tough it out by the time the frost does get here but you may just have to harvest early. You should have planted early and you wouldn't have this problem. If I were you I would go ahead and get an indoor garden set up and start some seeds indoors. It's gonna be a long winter.

I was wondering the same thing. My plant has been growing since late may. It's now over 6ft tall and started to show pistils the last 2 weeks.

It seems like it's really starting to take off now...(clusters of pistils forming @ colas).

I just hope she has enough time to mature before the frost. When is frost expected....Early October for the Northeast?

And is immature bud ok to smoke as long as you dry and cure it?

If your plants have been showing for a couple of weeks they will be ripe early oct. You can smoke immature bud if you don't mind smoking bush. You can get a buzz but nothing like when they are ripe.

If you have a 6ft plant then I'm sure you could harvest a couple of the small...I repeat small buds. But I wouldn't even recommend that. I would wait and just buy weed if you need it. You'll be good to go come october if you planted in may.

yeah the days are startting to change now , get shorter ,, it dont matter when u plantted ur plant , if u plantted it last month , then you would have a plant 1 or 2 feet tall with small to medium budz ,,, i remember many years ago i had a plant not doing so well & when the time came i had a 1 foot tall girl with 1 single bud at the top , this bud was very dense & about the size of an egg LOL ,keep a close eye on the weather forcast when that time gets here ,, if it is going to frost at night put somthing over it , usually the 1st frost will come at night but the day weather is still in the 65-75 range ,, i never had any dramatic problems with frost & it has never killed any of my babies ,,, good luck happy growing

thank you for all the input. I am not worried about my time, i'm willing to wait as long as she takes. I just dont want mother nature to kill her before she's ready.

You say she should be ready by October? I am willing to go to very late october / Nov. 1 as long as the weather permits. If we get an unlucky frost one night, will it ruin the buds and kill her?

Essentially what i'm asking is: If I let her grow as long as possible, will she be ready to harvest before it gets too cold?

Supposedly the first frost lands somewhere in mid October, but I *think* she will need the whole month of Oct.

Just cover them with black plastic from 8pm to 8am. You might have to make a simple frame work to keep from damaging the plant.
