I want to get some bamboo starts going. My neighbor has a bunch hanging over the fence. Can I put them in a glass of water or just put in soil? I'm not familiar with the plant so not sure what works best. Free is always good. Any help would be great.
Thanks!!!

Tip: read any and all precautions of planting it in the ground. Some places it can grow semi controlled other places it takes over without mercy.

I just have a couple shoots growing in water in my kitchen. Had them bout 2years and they are pretty much the same size.

Take cuttings, root them (doesn't take long, most species of bamboo grow very fast), bury a container into the ground or something to keep them contained, if you don't you'll have a hellish time keeping them under control.
