§How did they treat you when you was a Noob? How do you treat Noobs?

My question is why is it cool to disrespect a man trying to learn how to become a good grower? The minute you signed up you were a Noob and now you are a "Well Known Member" so its ok to disresoect the new people? Ok why? Name a mistake or a ignirance you never had.:peace:

The only time I see people get a hard time is when they obviously haven't even TRIED to research the topic they are asking about. Other than that, most of the posts I see are usually pretty chill.
I feel like some people on this board just assume you didn't do any searching. I read up on this stuff for months had a question that I wanted cleared up and was told to do research. Just because one just signed up to RIU, does not make them a noob it makes them a part of the community. And let's be honest there is a ton of misinformation on the interwebs so questions to clarify should be expected. Just my two cents.

If I see a question I can answer with confidence I'll chime in or send a link to where I think will be most helpful.

because 99% of growing questions have already been asked and answered by the popel on this and other forums. then a newb comes in saying he can DROP his FLOWER time by 2 weeks and everyone calls BS. then said idiot gets all butt hurt and pouts in a corner.

use the damn SEARCH function, pay attention when someone gives you the advise you ASKED for. then if its NOT the answer you wanted, don't get all pissy. that's why we have a low tolerance for newbies who act like this. or the ones who make a thread begging to delete his/her account. just don't log back on and post. delete from favorites bar and take a nap.

I'm new and I've feel welcome here, like these guys have said just use common sense, do your homework and be respectful :)
Hear, hear! The noob has a responsibility to take the craft seriously if s/he wants good results; that means read, study, listen with open mind and get a few runs in before trying that 'set the world on fire' idea you've been itching to try.

Because if you don't, you'll crash n burn and that gets expensive. Then the blame games start and we who are not noobs any more have heard all the excuses- having made the same ones ourselves, no doubt- and don't want the drama.

We who have been noobs and are not any more have a responsibility to guide and teach- but only to those who are putting forth some effort on their own initiative. It's going to be your reward, you must do the work of learning how and applying it correctly.

Because its too easy to ask for answers nowadays, when I first started growing, you didn't go around asking questions. I took all the classes I could in college about botany. Spent alot of time reading and learning. There was no world wide web, etc.. I however do not go out of my way to degrade, I feel this is counterproductive.

Who cares if you get a bit of heat when youre new? .. Suck it up. Come back and debate, and prove your work or findings are valid.eventually the noobness wears off and you figgure stuff out and you'll ask yourself.. What was I thinking?.

I'm not the oldest on the board, but I bet money I was poppin seeds when alot of you were in diapers.

I remember my first mess up, I vegged for 6 months wating for buds..

- don't be an asshat
- keep things on topic for the forum you're posting in
- ensure you do your homework to the best of your ability before asking questions
- be polite
- refrain from debate (at least until you're established in the forums)
- sit back and pay attention at the beginning; become familiar with the forum etiquette and get a feeling of how it works here by established members before posting or replying to posts
- don't give advice you know nothing of. Even experienced growers make mistakes in responses, but that's far different than blindly answering without knowledge at all
- acknowledge when you have made a mistake

I found that after a short time (I did a TON of research on indoor growing, and lurked here for a while before posting or giving advice, I quickly met and chat with some of the senior members of the site, and always have been treated with respect and dignity.

Effectively, you'll be treated the same way you treat others.

I LOVE your symbol. Is that an eclopse. Is the original fixed or could it rotate. My neighbor had one until a few years ago when a tree fell on it and broke one of the arms of. He soldered and tied it back on but it makes a wonky sound when you get it up to full speed. His didn't have the full lights and magneto setup but it could still give you a good shock from across the yard.

Are you speaking of the § symbol? If so, it is the "Sectional" symbol. It is used to identify a section of a document, often used in legal code docs.
