how do i get buds all up the middle of my plants?

My guess is strain related, I'm growing a sativa and a indica dominant plant right next to each other outside in the sun, in pots with same soil and watering schedule... the indica is mainly one large cola streching about 50% of the total height, the sativa is flowering only on the ends of new branches... also the sativa only started to flower now, while the indica is almost done. They were seeded on the same day.

Why are you still on this. Here's one that grew a single cola for me. all bagseed.
this is the only one that grew as such.
the others came close, but mostly looked like the third picture. I put them in flower after 2 weeks, and about 4-5 inches tall. some of the plants stretched. others filled out nicely.
i'm sure with the time and strain selection someone does this all the time.

my plants doing the same but mine is inside in a closet lined with aluminum foil and the bottom is producing buds and shes going on 3 months inside. i WAS going to cut those leaves but theyre coming out on the stem and buds are growing on the stem and the branches. i would give them atleast another week or more and use a magnifying glass to watch the buds to see them when they start turning brown {almost ready to harvest afterwards}atleast thats what i have read on this site and my girl is doing good. had 4 but 3 were males so i am letting the males die in another section of the house. mine is only a little over 3foot and it came out of some mexican dirt seeds but she smoked good he he
