How do you know when to flush a plant?

Hello all,

I was wondering WHEN I need to flush my plant. The obvious answer is 2 weeks before buds are starting to turn/about to turn amber. I just have no idea when 2 weeks before optimal harvest is!

Here my plants and an original thread no one was commenting on to helo you understand my situation.

Peace

what are you growing them in, for example, soil, hydro, so on and so forth?
flushing is a pretty hotly debated topic on this site, but the general consensus in that flushing is an old wives tale and doesn't really effect that end product..

If you're gonna flush at all then start when you see a few hairs turn orange. About 10 days layer the trichs will have clouded up. Not all strains / growing environments will provide this indicator. I'm a firm believer in the leeching (flushing) process.

When the majority of pistils start receding into the calyx, and the calyx start swelling, that's when to start watching the trichs with a scope. This usually happens 1-2 weeks before the plant is at its peak. Leaf color doesn't really have anything to do with it.

Flushing, or leeching, should only be done as maintenence of the grow medium in hydro during the grow if excess nutrients are being used. If nutrient EC levels are kept at appropriate levels in hydro, leeching shouldn't be necessary.

Go online and find yourself a 60x/120x handheld microscope and after the bud swells at the end (oftentimes a while AFTER hairs turn orange) start watching the transitioning trichomes. Harvest based upon your knowledge of the relationship between trichome maturity and high characteristics.
