How does the age of the mother effect cloning?

i clone tops and bottoms,, both seem to root well in my king cloner 36 site,, harder stems take a day or two longer than soft stem cutts... all seem to grow the same however the top cuttings do seem to branch out faster... either way i still never take cuttings in a plant less than 6weeks old,, i want mature clones... i do however sometimes take a few clones off the bottom before 6 weeks just to root then flower to determine sex,, but i never keep them as new mothers... i have found time and time again how a strain will get better w/ each generation of clone moms,,, after 6-7 generations they seem to adapt to your style and plants actually grow faster, finish sooner, than the original seed mom ever did...

Isn't it more that we learn how to grow the plant better each time? My third run of a clone is always better than the first. I improve the fertilizing and light distance and such.

it may damn well be,, i hadnt really thought about how i adapt to the plant..i focus on how the plant changes for me.. like the original mom might be branchy, good for less plants w/ multiple tops..then after a few generations of clone moms, and growing out clones packed together for sog or scrog,, i notice how they seem to be less branchy better for packing multiple plants w/ single tops..then i think how i pack them in veg might be doing it as they are packed so tight the lower branches dont get as much light,, wile w/ original mothers i give them space to see how she grows...
so yes i admit to treating the plant w/ different nutes, light space, etc...but i also see the plant adapt to my grow style also...

Sure,
7 years of running a G-13 in a 4x4 sog has resulted in a single cola dominate plant. However in my years of experience it's the exception not the norm and is strain specific.DSCN0669.JPG
