How far should SCROG net be from pot?

What's going on RIU,
Hope everyone is doing well today. Got my first grow setup about completely finished and I'm about to put my seedlings in soil this weekend. I'm just curious on your guys opinion on far my scrog net should be from the top of my soil based on my setup. Here it goes: I have a 4x6.5 space that's a little under 6ft tall. Working with 16 cob citi lights, growing in soil with happy frog soil. I'm really planning on going with a 6 week veg time so I want to make sure that my plants will actually have time to reach the screen and be trained as well.. no point in using a scrog if I'm just gonna flip as soon as the top of the plant reaches the bottom of the net, I am supposed to use veg time to thread and weave my branches through the screen, right? Anyways, I would really appreciate the help guys. Thanks in advance :joint:

When I started out scrogging I followed a guide by another user which stated that the net should be 9 inches above your media. As the years have rolled on I have scrogged with my nets lower than that & higher than that. I don't think there is a wrong or right height for your net as long as it isn't so low it constantly stresses your plant. I have limited height available in my grow spaces so will have the nets as low as I can get them without pissing my plants off. The ones I have scrogged at the moment are about 7 inches. Just make sure you leave yourself enough wiggle room to get your hands in there & make any adjustments that you need throughout flowering.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply my friend. That sounds like about the same information I've read elsewhere.. what's your opinion on the height of plants around week 6? In other words, will a plant that's vegged for 6 weeks have enough time to reach the screen that's placed let's say 10 inches above the soil? I do not want the plant to just be reaching the screen once it's time to flip.. or does it really matter? Lol thanks mate

I'd let the plant reach the screen and fill up at least 75% of the screen before you flip. Get it 100% full and even up the tops during the first 3 weeks of flower. Fill up more of the screen prefilp if you dont have a stretchy strain, less if it stretchs more.

I'm with grower899 on that. You want your plant weaved into your net, nearly full but with extra wiggle room for filling in during the stretch.
