How legal is marijuana is AK

I've been doing research on various laws around America and Alaska seems pretty chill and legal. But is it really?
Or is the law and police really strict over up there.

Not strict but not legal. The rumor about 24 or less plants is horse poop as far as I can tell. However, less than 1/4 pound usually results in no charges. Depends on the DA. The DEA avoids AK due to no dispensaries.

The legal term is 24 or more is a problem. They throw you off with that 24 number. Just as I learned with .08 and DUI. .08 is NOT the legal limit. The legal text states: a blood alcohol concentration of .08 OR MORE is a dui.

23 is where you want to be at. .07 if your out driving around after a couple beers.

It is confusing. In Ravin v State, the issue was really privacy. The SC said that the legislative branch needed to make up the exact amounts. But then HB 149 came along in 2006. I see lots of claims about amounts and plant numbers - even from NORML - but I have yet to see any reference to actual law. The closest I've ever found is this: http://www.legis.state.ak.us/basis/get_bill_text.asp?hsid=HB0149H&session=24

To me, that seems like any amount is illegal here.

In practice, we know that we shouldn't have to worry about cops literally sniffing around the house. The last vote to legalize only got 44% yes. I wish we would put it to another vote but sometimes I think people here don't care as much because of the hazy laws, almost-legal status, and the fact that the cops will often look the other way.

do you live in alaska already? If so then you should know the scene here, if you dont live here already then let me tell you. Its tolerated but def not legal and selling is still very frowned upon. With our population being as small as it is it is hard to find it sometimes and other times you are swimming in it.

one awesome thing is that we(I) only pay 40 for and 8th of primo top shelf as supposed to the states where most people pay 60. Try to sell an 8th up here for 60 and you will be laughed at.

When I first moved to Anc from the valley, I was paying too much at times. My wife's friend was the go between, and I think he is probably still using the same source and paying too much. I hope to toss him some once I can grow a decent personal grow. (Still learning.)

I keep debating if I should try to get a card or not. I would rather work towards making AK the next officially legal state, but I have no idea how to help that process.

I'm not going to debate being on a list or any of that. I believe that I get medical benefits - with my depression and my pain. Only the second issue can be a valid reason in AK.

My hesitation with the card is that I really, really believe we need to be working towards legalization. So maybe the card is the easy way out. I wonder if I (and others) won't give a shit once I (we) are legal mmj users.
