How long can a clone live as clone?

Whadup!
I was wondering about the time limit for a clone to live as a clone without a transplant?

Can you keep clones growing in an original small rockwool cube for more than 3 months?

Whats the best method for keeping the unit in best conditions? :
-Should I only spray the unit?
-Should I use a pippet to get the rockwool unit wet?
-When does a fan start to take place?
-What happens to the roots that have no space to grow at?
-Any side effects on the plant after an actual transplant of the clone?
-Any tips?

Thanks in advance, fellas!:weed::leaf:

light is not good for roots!

theres your answer. just get them grow out...then plant them in some soil...works like a charm, or you can carefully rip apart the rock wool when its wet. but that would take some skill

A clone can live literally forever if you just keep growing and feeding and pruning. As long as your plant is supported by its root structure the RW cube will work just fine as long as it is in some kind of medium like Hydroton or soil.

keep the RW cubes moist, not wet. Fan from the day they pop roots out, If no space for roots to grow plant will eventually die.

What If I want to keep my clones for 3 months and then put em in bubbleponics? Shoul I maybe use a bigger rockwool cube or something?

When the clone has no space to grow roots anymore(in a small rockwool unit) does it die? What can you do to keep the clone for over 2-3 months in just a small rockwool cube?

The roots grow out of the RW cube and down into the water, I have grown 4 foot plants with only 3" RW cubes. I used to start out with 1" cubes, then when the roots popped I would put the clone with the 1" cube inside the 3" cube. now I use Hydroton since it can be sanitized and reused and 1/2" RW cubes.

These roots are all growing out of a single 3" RockWool Cube, the roots fill a 5 gallon container 1/2 full. This is bubbleponics/DWC setup here.

true, the roots will just keep growing down if they are dripped. My setups are typically similar for flowering. net pots with hydrotron inside, with rockwool inside, and roots growing all over and down from there. Keep light away from the roots like mentioned above! as long as the roots get no light, enough oxygen, water and nutrients, they can be suspended in the rookwool indefinitely...hence aeroponics or misting root blankets-etc. hope some of that helps

Im wondering the same thing-if i dont want to plant immediately will they stay alive in water until planting time?

You can do what I do when I'm not ready for a clone, transplant and veg a bit and just clone it again. I took about 4 generations of one of my cuts before actually using it.

A lot of times I do this instead of keeping a mother. I'll take a handful of clones and use one of those handful as a new mother and repeat.

If I was to just keep feeding my clones with ph water with some root generator in it to keep my clones as small as possible would that keep them alive and small for a long time??? And yes I'd plant them in a small tub of coco to keep the roots hidden.

Could you keep it ad like a little window plant as long as it gets 16+hours of light

Like a little cannabis version of those tiny Japanese trees

No,the clone/plant doesn't die, root structure is only relevant as long as its large enough to keep water & nutrients flowing fast enough to keep the plant from stunting growth.

I grow with my sog single cola clones in 2x2 cubes,8 weeks later at chop the root mass is 3 feet long from that 2 inch cube,I don't even cover the cubes with hydroton, once the plant starts growing large I tie it off to the net pot to stabilize it & slip the black rubber groment around the stalk
