If they start getting close to 24" do you super crop, tie them down or throw them into flower? Thanks.
I did first grow and had to water over the leaves, first grow, got bud rot in 5th week of bloom.
Farmer said, "top once. It will make the bottom branches grow up. Don't FIM usless you're growing outside on a one-and-done. He said FIMing (creating more buds) will divert auxins. He said, "FIM= more smaller buds. Top once, bottom branches grow upward. Bigger buds". (Me? Bigger buds are less buds to clean at harvest).
I'm not tying any branches down. I gues you can say I lollypopped the bottom's of mine. I like watering without obstruction. It messes with my Zen-nation-ism.

I top 2-3 times. Once they hit 24 inches or close I'll tie the tallest tops down to even out the canopy and open up the center of the plant a little. I let it grow for 3-5 more days, or until I see a few more inches of growth, then it goes to the flower room.
I'm listening and thinking about it. Probably will ask Farmer since he's persnickity.

NEED TO KNOW. Do you think growing 30-days in 50/50 allowed the root ball to grow bigger, quicker, stronger, than it would have 30-days in off-the shelf FoxFarms grow mix? Think man. Less resistance than FF mud, for the thirsty roots - wicking for those oxygen cavities and I'm watering on the outside rim as much as possible. Dude!

Quicker and bigger but not necessarily stronger.

I am getting better results with ocean forest and 20% large perlite added than I did when I mixed in Happy frog. Happy frog is their lower line potting soil and has lesser grade peat and lime added and too many sticks. It is cheaper in price.

Ocean forest is their top of the line potting soil for containers. I have never had a problem except learning when to start feeding.

I used happy frog alone with perlite added for my first grow and did great. But it is obviously not better in comparison.

To the op. That plant I posted is in a 3 gallon pot and vegged about 5 weeks. I put it in when I saw female pre flowers.

It has been trained to 30" x 30". It would be over 6 feet tall if left alone to grow. And maybe 6 feet wide in those 7 gallon cloth pots. Even with the same veg time.

They are a picky pain in the ass to grow. But I am an old trip head and they are worth it.

Black Widow x Blue Lemon Thai

13 weeks. 7.5 oz. lemony and powerful.

Now back to the original topic......
That looks great. Mine was started from seed. It's very branchey like GG4 and my intermodal spacing is not as tight as yours. I like the energetic strains. In a few weeks my Durban Poison hunt begins.

I'll get a pic tonight.

Nice, and What I'd like. I noticed that mine grow up like a funnel, like yours, but not like a group of non-trailing bamboo. Are you sure that's mj? My first tent grow.
How'd you do the bamboo stalk footprint thing? It's an economical use of finite real estate.

So your saying my 7-gal pots are too big for my 5x5 tent and that, next-run I should use 3-gal. SmartPots, if I so married-to them? I can handle that. I had no idea until today that I over-potted. Ghaad-dang!!

The plants are bent and tied down to promote branching and many tops around day 10 in 12/12.

Then I stake and tie and bend and supercrop as needed for each individual strain and phenotype.

All plants are hopefully around 2' x 2' flowered. But these Sativa heavy hybrids don't usually cooperate. They make me work for them. :-)

I transplant every 2 weeks for a fully developed rootball. Sprout in a red 16 oz party cup. Then 1 gallon. Then 3 gallon and after a week or two into flower. I only want them to have enough space to finish filling the pot. Any more is a waste of soil water and nutes.

However. You can get great results in the big pots but you have to be very careful not to overwater. Their roots never really full up the pot as much as spread out.

I did autos my first time in 5 gallon buckets and got a qp per plant almost. But I overwatered and they yellowed and burned some in the beginning when they were young.

It just takes longer to veg enough to fill those 7's. Then you would have a massive plant.

You can still flower early. Learn for yourself through trial and error on these kinds of things. It is partly preference too.

sf.61.JPG sf.61.JPG Ok, I have an option. Tell me if I'm a fool to try. Don't sugar coat it.
I have that empty GH. What if I let the plants veg on a water-starve and feed diet to let the roots race towards the bottom from now @ 30 days in the 7-gallons, all the way to the beginning of it's 5th week (35-days) on Monday, Jan.16th MLK-day.
Then I'll remove the giant vegging-plants from the 5x5 tent, out to the GH and let the bloom until they ripen at about, I'm told for Diesel, 50-70 days. I'll put the fans on them and spray Cease™ fungi-preventer until a week before harvest. Bud rot not. This GH gets sun until 3 pm currently.
Whaddayathink??

Oops, no can do. I'd have to tarp it for 12 hrs. or they'd go back to veg.
However, I could take the runt SFV and however many others out of the tent, to make room in the tent, and begin 12/12 in the tent now - and put the runt SFV and others into the GH and let them be vegging-mother plants.
Whaddaya think about that?
