how many lumens

How many lumens do you think i got out of 4 bulbs reaching a max of 101watts in a small area?

My lumen meter read a 154 x 100 = 15400lux.

pretty cool, but is it real?

my lumen meter has 3 categories,

50000- on this one, it will give you a reading in 100 all the way to 1000 times 100. in my case it gave me a reading of 154x100 equaling a total 15400 lumens or light intensity.

i am not adding the lumens from the bulbs...

they are small cfl's... 2x26 1x32 1x42 bulbs

the lux is coming from the reading on my light meter.

Im just saying, this is my experience and that link, that dude is wrong, cause my light or lumen meter reads different...

your lux reader is wrong cause thnose 4 bulbs would only be able to produce a total of "8800" lumens maximum

lux = lumens/meter^2...so its a calculation based on an area, not a single point. It's not as simple as saying oh I have 153 lux, so I have 15,300 lumens...it doesn't work that way ;)

im just passing on what my meter says... it is really bright in there and my plants(spices) are loving it...

well how does it work then?
It doesn't...there is no way to directly convert from one to the other. Remember back in school when you do calculations you have those pesky units to deal with? Well this is the case where you can't just remove the m^2 part as you have no way to remove it ;)

yeah you can remove a square by square rooting the other number.. which i dont know cause you got the info.

either way, i like the way it works and my plants like the way it works...

That still leaves you with sqrt(lumens)/meter ;)

man you dont know what you are talking about...

It's actually completely factual and accurate information that I've provided...I'm sorry you feel like I have tried to give you misinformation. Next time ask us how to convert PH to PPM ;)

1 23watt bulb or 1000 23 watt bulbs, the max lumen output is the max output of a single bulb. Just with a 1000 you can cover a larger area at that lumen output... I am thinking your decimal point is off and your 15400 is actually 1540, which is about what a 23 watt CFL is rated at, right at the bulb that is....(just using 23 watters as an example)

The most lumens they would produce is the lumen output of the largest bulb, or 42 watter in this case.......

no, i aint stupid... i know how to read a meter and i know how to multiply...

haters can just never be proven wrong... alright
