It depends. You can reuse the equipment and such over and over again.

i dont know if you can really estimate per ounce, more per plant. Plant food usually isnt too expensive. It shouldnt be too much over 20 dollars for a couple bottles of nutrients and other stuff. Lightsarent that bad either, fluorescents are cheap and so are HPS lights, but the ballast can be quite expesnive, around 60 dollars for a big one.

for just a minimal/basic grow you need the two biggies: nutrients and light

you can easily get a quart of Pure Blend Pro Grow/Bloom for around $30.
As with lights, the more you initially invest in good lights, the bigger payout in the future. Good lights=bigger yield. My experience with a 400w mh/hps system for 2 plants yielded almost 4oz. (The light cost around $200 for the whole system: hps and mh bulb, ballast, reflector)

best strain to grow? they're all good. if you're asking which is easiest to grow, go with a indica-dominant strain. they are usually more forgiving.

40$ per bottle of nutrients for advanced nutrients..a company who makes nutrients JUT FOR CANNABIS....
ive boughty aroiund 500$ worth of nutrients alone....

anmd for the light lights...try 150$+ for a good 400hps..i have 2 400w hps with a hot-5 system..trust me,the buds will be just as good as how much you invest into it...it truly feels good when you supply your own plants with a good environemtn...i love ganja man..peace
