What would be a good light setup for a 4x4 ?

All I have ever grown with is cfl's....Was looking to put a stronger light in a tent.

Go with some cree cobs. Can not beat leds.
I don't have the $$$ to drop on LEDs right now....I was going to wait to see more results, and wait for prices to come down....

I was thinking hps or hid..But not really sure the differences between the two, and what would be better for my tent.....

Plus, I was thinking of finding a good deal on craigslist for a light...I have been looking somewhat but really haven't seen too much for LED's....

H.I.D stands for High-intensity discharge lighting. This includes the MH and the HPS lights that are used for growing plus other types of lights that are not suitable or used to grow with. If you go with HPS if you get one with an electronic ballast you will also be able to use MH bulbs which have the best light for the veg stage. A good rule of thumb for light size is at least 40 - 50 watts for every 1 square foot of floor space.

Not sure what your budget is but diy leds are not expensive at all and you only need 25-30 watts per sq foot to flower with.

does anyone here have a tent that's a 2x4 but 6' or more tall ?

I saw this one on amazon but it's only 5' tall.....

I'm thinking a 2x4 that's 6' tall or more could be a nice producer.

EDIT: found this 2x4 x 6.6' ....anyone have any thoughts on this one ?

If they each take up one sq ft it's possible but like you said they are going to be small plants.

I have 4 in my 2x4 tent and that's pushing it but I can't complain when I'm pulling 12 ozs out of it every 2months.

lol that tent seems sketchy. it looks like a 4x4 tent. desciption says 2x4x6.6 and picture says 2x4x5. ... which is it? lol

i used teh xen-lux 2x4x5 it works great with a 400w in an open gull-wing reflector with a clip on fan attached to open end of the reflector cooling the bulb and exhausting near the cable side of the reflector. cable and exhaust ducting going out the upper port. Exhaust --> fan --> filter.. gotta have some carbon prefilter to cover the intake to the tent to filter bugs and dust... you can get large sheets on ebay or amazon fairly cheap.

it's actually a generic pic for all their different sizes...about half way down in the ad there are 5 different sizes to choose from....I like the fact that it has metal rods for the framework .

It looks like a very good one for the price Spaaacie. I would go for the taller tents if you have the room. Who knows if you may decide to stick a flood table in there some day and need the room. The one I got many years ago was a 2x4x7' and I noticed that when I put it together on the floor and set it up straight it almost brushed my 8' ceiling. :peace:

I'm thinking 3 lady's 3 gallon smart pots , some early 4way lst topping an Scrog will fill out a 2x4 just fine an maximize yield
I have 3 plants in a 2x4 that have been topped for 4 main colas planted in 3 gal CAP ebb&flo pots. I am not going to scrog them though unless they grow too high. I would like to see some big colas from this grow.

This was taken at 27 days of veg and they were topped 4 days earlier. The height was 15" for the largest plant and 11" for the smallest. They are all mostly indica varieties.

I had a problem with the 2x4x5 tent from Amazon from being too short. I got my tent 2x4x6.5' off ebay for ~$120. it's tall enough to accommodate for the light and a home made aero system.
