im about to start my 1st grow and i dont want to go all out on buying an expensive halide being a noob and proably messing up the 1st time.
im gonna be using schwag seeds also and growing one plant. this light says its an alternative to a 400w halide and only uses 105w, could i use this? and also would it work for both veg and budding? or would i have to switch to something else once im ready for flowering?

i just checked out envirolite and they do seem the same, if these are so much cheaper and the same as hid;s why dosent everybody use them? or are they not that good for growing?

You would need several of those to really equal a 400W HID. The reason being those need to be a lot closer so you aren't going to get as wide a canopy of light.

yah, but keep in mind im only using one plant, i plan on upgrading once i get a couple of grows under my belt, but this is just for a test run basically, i dont even plan on smoking it, but anyway, would i also be able to use these during veg and flowering?

If this is your first grow, and you are not sure about it, go with the cheaper light. But in the future if you find that growing your own marijuana is as fun as I find it to be then get a 400 and order some good seeds online. 90% of the outcome comes from how good the seeds are.

It'll work.....not the best setup, and you can DIY for about $45, but it'll work. The problem is you won't have much saturation/penetration for a good budding stage.

This would be a good light for clone propogation though.

I'd recommend this:
Compact MH Grow Light Systems

175W MH is $140
250W MH is $160

Spend the extra $ for a good light. These will produce a bit more heat than your eBay light, but with a little extra cooling engineering to your space, the final product will be much denser, more resinous, and overall more substantive than what you'll be able to achieve with this cf lamp.

I mean if you got the money why not but its just kind of unnessesary, buy cheap florescents for the seedling stages then hps and MH for the veg and flowering stages.

go on ebay and buy a switchable 400 wat ballast used. They can be found for under a $100 and then all you have to do is switch the bulb and flip the switch.
