hps or led supplement

hello, I want to use a 4k solis de or equiv 600w mh for my flower room. which would be better to add red, a 150-250 hps or a couple red led strips? any ideas appreciated.

Personally I would add LEDs over the other choice based on efficiency.

flowering plants want/need red

light in the 2700 kelvin region

you can make buds in 6500 even 4000 kelvin

but you will bitch and cry for months

what you use to get that kelvin is your business

but a 400w hps is minimum

otherwize it more heat than light

ps if u got a 600w Mh to your grow store on the lower racks out back look for the CONVERSION bulbs

The best thing you can do is to mimic the spectral balance of the sun....Adding "more red" will not do what you think....more blues as HPS is lacking enough, would make a difference that may surprise you.
The reason growers went to HPS was the increase in actual intensity of the photon's delivered to the plant....Not any boost in red spectral banding. Although it was a benefit....the down side is the "less" blue spectral banding..
