    Hey guys,
I'm bought a HPS kit that has a veg+flow bulb, recently I bought a HPS flowering only bulb. I'm using the veg+flow for the vegetative phase, is there significant advantage to use the flow only bulb for the flowering phase?

Do you have a picture of the packages for the bulbs? Specifically their spectrums.

Yeah. there is; more, and denser buds, but can get a bit leggy
Stay with the veg=flow bulb until they finish the stretch in the first two weeks of flowering, then switch to the flower only.
They need the blue light end that comes with a veg bulb for the stretch, then more of the red light for buds. (:

Sorry it took me so long to reply, the one running now for veg is a "Vanguard hortimax agro SHP 400W", the one I'm planing to use for flow is a "Philips Master son-t PIA plus 400W"

Thank you @sworth, would you say that 2 weeks are enough or should I keep it up until I notice they stopped stretching after changing to 12-12 cycle?

Some guys will disagree but I use a 400W HPS bulb to veg and a 1000W HPS bulb to flower. There is very little difference in growth or bushiness and 2 factors to support HPS for the entire grow -
    1. MH bulbs run hotter than HPS and it is really obvious during the summer when hi temps can be an issue.
    2. HPS bulbs last longer than MH bulbs.

Just my experiences so hold the hate mail please.

    Good luck, BigSteve.

Hey man thanks for the share, at what point do u usually swap the bulbs?

It depends on the bulb. Cheapo bulbs last 3 to 6 months and nice bulbs 9-12 months on 12/12.

Big Steve may run hps all the way through. Depending on the spectrum it may be close to mh.

Look at the eye hortilux bulbs. They are usually the most expensive hps bulbs that run high in the redish spectrum but also peak in the blueish spectrums.

    It's really all bulb specific.

But if you're running non autos there's a huge difference in vegging in the blue spectrum. Keep those nodes short and tight!

Either on day 1 of flip to 12/12. If u plan on bending them down/out.

Or 2 weeks after 12/12 if space is an issue.

Or somewhere in between. What ever works best for your plant/grow .

Use mh (blue spectrum) through the first 2 weeks if space is an issue.

If you have lots of space to fill, use hps (red spectrum).

You're last 193 post haven't included a single pic of your grows. I don't doubt u use to be a grower, but now you're just a chatty Cathy.
