its not the fact that they wont grow in it
they will but its the loss of time / stumble in growth that needs to be eliminated for a true dialed in grow

Ohhh, your medium was FFoF for seedlings?
Wayyy to hot for their delicate root structure at that stage, mate.

I start them in solo cups with 75/25 FFOF and perlite in a computer case "incubator", then transplant at day 14 into a mix that is 90/10 plus some dolomite lime.....NO NUTES for 28 days...LEAVE IT ALONE....everyone wants to jack with a grow process that is very short to begin with.....you cant unburn your plants and VERY LITTLE time for recovery..then 1/2 strength plus a few other goodies after that..

So if I understand this correctly, if I were to start a seedling in a 16 oz plastic cup, once it's ready for transplant I would "dig out" a matching-size hole in the final pot, remove the cup and place the plant/soil in the dig-out as-is?

I hear people talk about transplanting all the time, but I'm not sure how they're actually going about it. I just won't want to damage my plants once I'm ready to start using this approach.

Thanks

Ah to be in the desert where the only thing that truly wants to grow is a cactus! Lol. Yes the humidifier made an enormous difference. In order to learn how to keep the humidity from going too high or dropping too low I have begun leaving one of the closet doors open about an inch. At night we leave both doors open. Temp is not very difficult to maintain. Using cfls doesn't add a lot of extra heat. Just be sure to not let your temps go much over 85 because at 90 you can lose them to the heat. And watch those night temps. You don't want it to go below 50. I try very hard to keep my humidity about 75-80. I must be doing something right as my babies are healthy and putting on their second set of leaves. Using the grow tent is it indoors or outside .... don't remember now what you said. How are you doing with insect control. Hubby says our grow closet is the cleanest room in the house. I do have the Safer brand liquid insecticide soap spray and first of next month I'm getting some Neem oil. I have dark green drapes hanging in front of the closet doors so unless you look beyond you can't tell a thing. Hope your babies are doing well. Best of luck to you.

I need to correct some advice I gave you. Humidity needs to be no higher than 50%. A little under that is better. Over 50% can cause powdery mildew. As I learn more will keep you updated.
