Ok, the most important questions that haven't been asked so far.

You have a solid pot?

It has holes for drainage?

I see hydroton medium, but what is the plant actually in the middle?

How big is the pot?

How often are you watering?

See i believe, that with the hydroton you have there and the size of the pot, that you are underwatering,

thanks nongreenthumb - that's what i was wondering - my system is watering 24 x 7 with hydroton as the medium (in net pots) and didn't understand the "overwatering" statements.

Its clear to me, that the pot is full of hydroton with no holes in the side, so therefore it can't be any type of aero or bubbler, plus it was also said that she only fed once on saturday, so its pretty obvious that its underwatering, the roots are just loose in the hydroton which does not hld any water, with once a day feedings for a short time, your just keeping them on the bring of death.

here are some pictures. i dont understand what you mean by "plant actually in the middle"? is the plant in the middle? if thats what youre asking.. its not perfect but its pretty close to the middle.

as for water. you see the picture with the small black tube? i basically stick that in the RW and a continuous stream of water comes out of it. i leave it on for 10-20 seconds 2 times a day.

i really do think its not a under watering problem because when i saw the first sign of trouble.. i re watered them but they just got worse..
i looked at the roots of my dead plants and 1/2 of them were brown soooo yea... i think it was root rot/ lockout.. also i treated the problem like it was root rot and its been improving ever since.

the only things im scared about is the absence of nutes for a few days because my plant already has nute def signs on some of the leaves :( iono how to go about that. any suggestions from anyone would help a lott.

ok these are the exact events that happened.

friday morning.. found plants with nitrogen def. so i mixed up a soup with ionic grow full str and fed it. woke up 4 hours later and they were in terrible shape. i was just way too tired to find out more seeing how i didnt sleep for about 3 days.

so on saturday. i wake up to 1 plant being dead and the other healthy green but super wilty. checked the roots of my dead plant and 1/2 of them were brown. i filled a 2 litre bottle with filtered water to 5.8 and tried flushing everything.

on sunday. i took a 2 litre bottle. added 1 teaspoon of 3% h2o2 and flushed the plant with that. at the end of the day.. they didnt get any worse.. it seemed liek it was getting better.

on monday. i went to hydro store. and a guy gave me some stuff for free. if i remember correctly it was something called DNF 5-1-1.

today morning. i woke up. filled up another 2 litre. added 1 teaspoon of 3%h2o2 AND the DNF... and i flushed the pot again.. used only half of the bottle. they are looking much better now. i can tell the difference.

some leaves are still wilty but progress.. im just scared and clueless of when to add nutes because they havent had nutes in soo long.. iono what to do..

thats all cool, but what size rockwool are you using in the system.

they look better when you feed them, they are well short of water.
up the feed rates by how much at a time and how often and your plants should start to recover.

100% underwatering, you need to be feeding this girl lots now

4 or 5 times a day for 5 minutes maybe longer.

fuckkk.... iim so confused. people telling me its this and people telling me its that. nongreenthumb... i know you know your pot... its just other people reputable as you are are saying otherwise. can i get a second or possible a third opinion? T.T

hey non', i think you've missed the post where she said her roots were all brown and mushy. Underwater and they'd just dry out.

The cubes in those pots looks pretty big, I'm sure i can see it poking down a little through the side of the pot, at the bottom.

cant they just look better because the feed im getting them is cleaning the roots and such?

Ok, so your using 4" rockwool, you've probalby taken the wrapper off, as all advice would tell you to do this.

The rockwool holds a limited amount of water, as soon as you put more in the excess drains from the bottom, so overfeeding is impossible.

Your roots are brown because they are drying out, because the hydroton doesn't hold a lot of water, you need to keep the roots that have outgrown the rockwool and into the hydroton more wet to keep them alive, because they are dying.

i just want to cry right now T.T

skunk and ngt.. you guys flip a coin -_- lol..

ok lets think of possibilities if you have the time that is...

if i do feed it... ima feed it 3/4 nutes.. sooo if i do feed it and it starts going south.. what should i do? flush with with 5.8 again?

I can't accept that a dry environment can cause mushy roots. All I've ever seen roots do in a dry environment is dry out. In a wet environment they go mushy.

Well I'm a coco grower, NGT grows your way all the time... still though, i'd always give overwatering as a cause for mushy roots.

i know its a poor way to decide but i just flipped a coin lol. ngt was heads and skunk was tails. it landed heads.... i guess its all risk. well no one got anywhere just by standing around.. lets do this T.T
