Hydroponic Cultivation

Hey guys,

I have a few questions. First of all, I will be using an ebb and flow setup with hydroton.

What is the hydroponic equivalent to the two week freshwater "flushing" that soil growers use to improve taste?

Also, if I were to leave my plants in a 48 hour period of darkness before harvest, how does that affect the watering schedule?

You could add an enzyme product for those last two weeks to help the plants absorb the last of the nutes, and or add some molasses for an extra kick in the 2nd to last week.

If you are going to do the 48hrs of darkness...most people advise to water first before removing from the garden so they don't die of drought.

Is there a particular enzyme product that you recommend? And how do you apply the molasses to the reservoir?

What do you mean by that? Water right before harvest? Or when exactly are you referring to?

hydro feeds alot more often than soil. so all you have to do is use 6.0ph water for a day or two, what is your watering schedule?

I will be growing in a 1000w HPS with hydroton, so I am going to water every four hours when the lights are on.

Lots of good enzyme products. Cannazyme is one of the best, as well as sensizyme and hygrozyme(grozyme I think in canada). I like to dissolve the molasses in hot water before adding it to any nute solution or rez. You don't need alot of hot water to dissolve it...so it won't change the temp of your rez too much. If your concerned...you could let it sit abit after a good mixing in the hot water to get back to room temperature.

Depending on your growing system....I grow in a passive hydro system....so I ensure the girls get a good watering before going into a period of darkness before the chop. That way the plant doesn't completely dry out while waiting to be executed.

I don't always do the darkness period for my girls...but if I can...I do. I find it helps frost up the colas a bit, and buds seem to get a little harder. And if she drinks the last bit of water...then I find it takes less time to dry before jarring.

Drink!
