I can't pull the trigger! Suggestions, are LEDs WORTH the money?

Are LEDs worth the cost in yield?

I am doing a very tiny grow... sort of. Small cabinet grow. Small enough that I could only fit an AdvancedLED DS100 in the box (directly above) or maybe a couple of CFL bulbs. The DS100 is a 100w unit and if I was to use a couple CFL's I would be pulling out maybe 55w of CFLs. My grow area is 2ft wide by 1ft deep. Height isn't really an issue, but it is about 4ft high. Obviously I am not lighting from 4ft up, it would only be about 20" from the canopy of course. Doing a bubbleponic system.

The thing I am most concerned about is obviously heat, and everyone says LEDs are cooler running than CFLs, but in reality we are talking about maybe a degree or two. And then there is actual cost. $300 for the LED light vs $50 for a CFL setup....

Money isn't an issue per se, but If I can save $250 then there's no point in spending it if the yield is the same.

Please tell me your thoughts. I am border lined, lastnight I had my finger on the order button and just couldn't hit confirm order!!!

theres some great examples of what leds can do on youtube. They are expensive ,but look totaly totaly worth it.Not to mention it completely eliviates your concerns with heat

This is true. I have seen the videos and the pics but I can't say I am 100% convinced. With a 90day money back, I am still hesitant... bc 90 days is only half a small grow. lol

90 days is enough for a full grow with the right strain, 12/12 from seed, sea of green, I believe it's possible to reach the 1gpw this way.

if you are 10 days away from harvest you can decide whether you like the lights or not :eyesmoke: if not you finish them with a few cfl they should be at full weight anyway.

They have worked for me so I prefer to have the lifetime warranty as opposed to the 90 day return policy.

I have no means to acquire good genetics in seeds or clones. Will be using random bag seed. (Sigh) I wish I had some feminized...

People like you shouldn't be growing anyway.......getting the seeds delivered is easy and safe. In 20+ years I don't know 1 person busted for getting seeds delivered. Growing on the other hand, is a different story. Don't grow cause it sounds like you won't sleep at night.

Thanks, but you know nothing about me or my growing experiences. I've ordered seeds before, and before I had a child and wife. I was a large contributor on overgrow, and am just getting back into it. Like everything else in life, things change, and without having researched seed companies lately, that's not a project I plan to take on any time soon. I have had seeds confiscated before and have received the letters in the mail from customs in regards to the seeds. I have ordered from Nirvana in the past as well as Paradise Seeds.

For those like you, and the young ones...
