Nothing fucks up the smell more than wet trimming and drying on screens. Seriously!

pluck fans, and hang the fucking shit! And bin it.

You can take down the crop quicker, trim when you can and your buds won't smell like boo-boo.

It's just how most of us do it
Interesting, I have questions, maybe the BBQ or I'll come fishing and we can discuss this at length. I've still got so much to explore/learn.

My shit is curing in bins while it's waiting to get trimmed.

I used to get away with wet trimming back in the day. Only reason why i started doing that was because of my allergies.

It doesn't cut it here in ca any more.

Outdoor, we don't have time to pluck fan leaves. Makes it a little more difficult to trim when dry, but it's what most of us do.

When you end up putting scissors to it, it's just how its supposed to be.

Only shit we would screen dry are the lowers that were ran through a trimmer. And they smell like boo-boo. Not a fan at all. We stopped running lowers through a trim machine.

This year I changed my system and I think I'll continue: I took the colas of maybe 2 plants per day(5-10g pots in greenhouse). Take all the fans and hang them for 4-5 days, then trim and jar. I left all the popcorn and small buds on the plant. Took 2 weeks off when taht was done, then went back for the now nice sized popcorn. Harvested those as buds, trimmed then dry for 5 days then jar. Ended up being no more than 3 hrs/day (morning and evening shifts). Letting the popcorn go for another month with opened canopy increased yields (keeper) and lessened keeper trim a lot.

Yep, releasing uncontrolled live enzymes and wet chemistry to fuck up the stuff for at least 3 days

It 100% makes a difference bro.

Btw, once they go into bins, it's not over. Gotta do what you gotta do that they don't get dry.

The first week after taken down and put into bins/coolers is pretty vital to them still curing. Once dry, curing stops.

60% humidity is key.

A 4-5 day screen dry fucks shit up. and ther'es no bringing it back.

I just spent 5 days trimming. it helps to take a lot of breaks to relax and watch TV or listen to music but if I had 40 lbs to trim I would invest in a machine to do it and then use the shake to make extracts

Meh you just gotta suck it up and do it. Outdoors they go out late and I've got some compact phenos so they make for easy trimming. Indoor it's scrog all day everyday. All nice chunky fat nuggets so they're easy to trim. I can get lazy and dry trim them no problem.
I also have a guy though. And dude has absolutely no problem working for weed instead of cash. That guy and I together can chop up some weight and fast.
Breaks are key. Every hour and a half to 2 hours. Have a smoke. A drink. A light snack. Not stare at nuggets until you go cross eyed.

Lets take a moment to discuss this ‘wet’ v. ‘dry’ trim.

When I take down my plants, I take off all the fan leaves with stems by hand, then I hang to dry, and 5-7 days later, I come back with the scissors to make miniature trees and little diamonds.

This is considered the ‘correct’ method, right?

At least you guys can relax and trim. I have to keep smell to a minimum. I trim in a tent so smell doesn't stink the house up.

I was thinking of turning one room in the basement into an open grow and trim room. Put a big ass filter and fan combo to scrub the air and a filter and fan in each tent.

@justugh you have a good problem. Helicopters got everything of mine this year. Fuckers even came back to get my last two plants.

Ya I learned that knocking fans and big stuff off then hanging is best for smell .....I use to tight chop the buds wet simply because it was easier ....but all that gorgeous smell seemed like it was released for good .....started experimenting with different techniques ....now I knock fans, dry ...tighten them up a little bit more going into cure .....then I just give a quick manicure as patients want it ....locks the smell in real good ....and by giving the flowers a quick clip before bagging for patients ....it releases all that delicious aroma for when they open the bag themselves.

Your number 1 prob is you're wet trimming.

Cut, pluck fan leaves, hang to dry. When stems snap, take down and bin it. Trim when can.
that is the wet trim take off the fan leaves and as much of the little stem as can before turn it upside down ....if the sugar leaves look b ad ( not much on resin ) then u clip the tips of those leaving just the part with oil on it for dry trim collection

Ok, so I hear conflicting stories about doing the initial drying on screens. One camp says it only affects bag appeal but the terps and smoke are fine. The other camp says it degrades the terps.

So what is your experience? Why not dry on screens other than it compresses the bottom of the bud (the part against the screen).
