Well I was gonna just sit back and soak up all the awesome expertise floating around here and not post or draw attention to myself or anything. But I've never been all that good at staying quiet. So I had to post something, and now I might as well introduce myself like a civilized person, right?

Hi, I'm Tom. You can call me Tom, Big Tom, Huge Tom, or Hugetom80s. (Yeah, I know it's not that funny. But I like it.) Most people just go with Tom. I suppose there's a logic to it... it's my name.

Or is it?

Sorry, bit paranoid.

So yeah.

I'm from down south... what I like to call "The Wang State" or the US national sandbar. I'm not originally from these parts... got sent here when I got stupid and learned to Never Again Volunteer Yourself. (The sailors will get that one...) Liked the weather and the scenery, so I stayed when I got out. Nothing like a green lawn on Christmas. F'in beautiful. I hate cold.

Unfortunately we don't have any laws around here that would allow me to grow a certain crop, so of course I would never break such a law. :hump: I'm just here 'cause I want to grow me some hydroponic veggies, yup. And you fine folks are without a doubt the people who know hydroponics.

My first go is going to be a DWC bubbler most likely, I've got some spare Rubbermaid bins and whatnot, and it's not like it's a tough design to put one together. I'm going to do what all the smart people say to do - start small, simple and just learn.

So that's me.

With a little luck I'll be building a simple little system and putting up some pics for everyone in the next few weeks. They won't be exciting or anything, and there certainly won't be anything else growing in the spare bedroom. Nope, definitely nothing in the bedroom. Pay no attention to the crop behind the curtain.

Thanks man. I was looking at the links in your sig, cool stuff. I wish I could build one of those greenhouses in my backyard (I rent, so I can't). More room for more veggies is always good.

I've grown veggies before in dirt, but this time I'm going strictly hydroponic. I'm familiar with the sense of pride and accomplished in growing your own stuff, I'm looking forward to seeing how I do without dirt.
