so i started my 2 plants 4 a couple of weeks under 2 60 watt regular bulbs and grew them till they were around 5-6 inches high...with the door in my grow room closed(2.5ft by 4ft by 5 1/2 ft) with no ventilation and the plants grew slowly but surely. but then i got myself a 400watt HPS light and ballast and put the plants under them atleast 3-4feet away and within two days the plants leaves became all crispy and fell off! the plant also shrunk and its leaves closed up a little! IS this because of ventilation?? or because i didnt start the plants under the light from the very start?? ive started 7 more plants now and ifm germinating them in little 4inch pots with clear sandwhich bags over them now just until they sprout and then i can put these particular ones into flowering.(another story) but this time i have left the closet door open about 8 inches and just hung a dark cover over the gap to block the light! but i hope it works.......can i get some help or tips peeps id really appreciate it!! thanks for readin this. KEEP IT:weed: GREEN!

you burned them, you need new air circulation, and a humidifyer, and the new 400 should be up real high so the plants can adjust to the strongger light,if not the plant gets sun burned

but if you started the plants under the 400 then they already have their tan and their able to deal with the bright light bettr

Bro you definitely need some ventilation because the light is puttin off some serious heat and the rays are also much stronger. I just suffered in a similar way. I re-placed the heater in my little room and the direct heat tore up two of my babies big time. They're all shriveled and I'm positive I'm going to lose some leaves. Now that the heater isn't directly blowing on them they're doing much better.

i would start the grem. and veg.with a 6500K fluorescent light. less worrys of burning the plants and heat. and you can keep the fl only acouple inches from the plant. u need to vent sum how. try using a pc fan or sum kind of small fan for air flow.

Definatly need ventilation, plants need to breath and it's obviously far too hot for them in there. Get an extractor fan that can replace all the air in the grow room at least once a minute, and extract to a different room than the one the closet is in if at all possible, otherwise you could end up drawing back in the hot air you expelled. Attics are a good place to vent warm air if you can get to the bit above the growspace.
