I really like T8s and hate MH

I was thinking of buying 10 fixtures at Wal Mart for $10.97 and bubs from 1000 bulbs.
I think output is like 2800 lumens per light. 20 x 2800 = 56,000 Lumens for about $160. Using about 640 watts. Maybe buying an 8 bulb T 5 HO and 4bulb t5 HO at be smarter

Maybe mount it on a 4x8 piece of plywood. I have a big area. I need big yield though and hate MH/HPS

I suppose but I love mine...if I really wanted something different I'd get some led lights... That's what I'm doing...I'm gonna convert my veg room from 400watt mh to around 350 watts of led

I've seen a few rooms that run nothing but t5 for veg and flower, and I'm not gonna knock it but we were growing the exact same plants and my 600 watt hps out did something like 810 watts of t5..... Twice the weight and buds were way harder

Cool. You are a mind reader. I was gonna buy something like this just to test it out. I figured for the money it would be worth a test as I am not that great with electronic kit building.

I guess it just needs a heat sink, the lens, maybe that converter, a frame, a plug fo rthe driver/ballast.

Hey is this guy in Mich or Canada?
He is pretty entertaining but gets stoned in every video and the grows he goes into are usually not clean.

T5's yes

T8's Not so much
i religeously use T-8 6500k sidelights during veg to get my girls to bush out alot more than with my 2 yield lab 1000 watt MH lights. If you use T-8s for sidelights like i did then make sure you rotate the plants or they will only bush on 1 side. With MH you ,must have enough space between your lights and plants or they will sunburn or burn from the heat of the bulb. I wasnt used to my new DE 1000 watters being as IR and UV heavy. My first babies almost fried from sunburn because the DE 1000s were to close. My T-8s brought them back from the edge of death! So im very careful with my big dog lights cause if you dont have room they will get your plants. I really like T-8s for sidelighting in conjunction with my HPS and MH. I have 6 strains of ILGM genetics and 2 of my girls stretched over 6 feet . The 3 bushiest plants are a couple of Gold Leafs a Chocolope and 1 Amnesia Haze. Im 1 week from finishing up and those plants will produce over 2 lbs each. All my girls are in 18 gallon totes. I used T-8 , 4100k sidelights for bloom because they were free. So i hope you dont think to bad about T-8s they are alot less expensive than T-5s and you cant beat a MH with a T-5 ever for yield sorry.

Amen brother. T8s or T5s for babies. MH will fry them.

Maybe check the DIY COB area to not have to deal with heat while at the same time putting out more PPFD than HPS/MH
