Update time:

The flowering tent (Budmaster emerson Far Red):

So after a lot of debating, I've decided that I don't even want to wait another week to get my girls into flowering. So I made the executive decision that tonight will be the first night of 12/12 for my girls. I looked back at all my other grows and at this point in flowering (day 12) every other grow had flowered. Now hence I didn't start my grow at 14/10 with 2 hours of far red, and switched it about a week ago... but by now, I should have seen the plants get ready for flowering, and flowers set, so I decided that giving them another week, the 14/10 may work, but I'm not confident it will at all, so why wait.. lets get the show started and see what it can do..

Well instead of the 14/10 with 2 hours of Far Red, I've decided to switch my schedule to 12/12, using the far red for 15 minutes before lights on, 1 hour during peak daylight (emerson effect), and 15 minutes after lights out. People have used this schedule before with confidence and it works, and they all said they noticed a much shorter flowering time, and increased yield... so we will see

So with that being said.. tomorrow will be day 1 of flowering officially lol

Other than that the plants are just doing their thing, I gave them a foliar feeding of some cal/mag, water, and some 1-1-1 b1 vitamins. The plants all now are showing continued leaf growth, a lot of stretch on the indica dom's and not much on the sativa doms. My 2 mystery bag seeds seem to be showing female sex, and have some very interesting leaves on them... not like anything I have grown before that I recognize. Should be interesting to see what they are Other than that I won't be feeding them for at least until monday in which they will get a nice soil/worm casting compost tea

The SEED PROJECT:

Well since I still am waiting on clones to root, I decided to hold off on the separate journal until all the plants are rooted, and potted. The ogiesel that I put in the soil yesterday isn't looking too hot, as its been fairly dry here lately, and even with a makeshift humidity dome over her, she just seems really wilty.. I have about 6 other cuttings of ogiesel awaiting to root and only need 2 of them, so hopefully soon I should be able to get 2 fresh ones into soil. I'm also waiting for the black diamond og to root and I took about 4 new cuttings yesterday and put them in the humidity dome, so hopefully within the next week or so I can get things going

I won't need to feed these plants for at least about another week as they are still young and fairly saturated from their last feeding/watering when they got transplanted. They all are taking off with new growth now and looking really good I decided to also give them all a foliar feeding with the same above mix, and they are thriving. I'm so excited for these new strains, and almost want to just flower them out right now...LOL but I will wait even though making seeds of unknown genetics is pretty foolish, I have a feeling that these all are the real deal by the reviews the clone place had, and the health of the clones, plus the leaves look excactly how they should for each of the strains hope they are good phenos

Well not much else to report on

SEED PROJECT:

UPDATE TIME!

Well I don't really track my days in veg, but I would say for some of the plants its been about 3 weeks in soil, some are fresh and only days in soil. Things are moving along great, as many of the older plants already are topping around 12-14" or so... I finally got 2 ogiesels to root, however the 2nd one I just put in the soil a few days ago dried out really bad because the day I transplanted it, the humidity here was down around 15%, and I didn't put the humidity (2liter bottle) dome over her for a day, and the next day she was just about dead.

Since then I placed the 2 liter bottle over her and even though about 3/4 of the leaves are dead, she is still growing. The good news is in just those 2 days since that happened, another ogiesel showed roots, so I got her put into soil, immedately put the dome over and she is thriving right now. I plan on replacing the unhealthy and almost dead ogiesel in a few days as I have her in my 3rd tent right now under a heavier blue spectrum and less intensity.

I am still awaiting the last strain to root, the black diamond og. I remember last time I cloned it, it was such a pain to clone, and didn't want to take, but I have about 6 cuttings right now of her in my humidity dome so I know I should see something in the next week come up... and if not... oh well... it was a great strain, but didn't yield very much, was a very slow growing plant, and very tempermental. So even though the smoke was great, all the other negatives definitely makes it not so much of a fun plant to grow... so if I can't get one to root, we will keep it moving as the other plants are starting to get pretty large already

I would estimate that with the rate the plants are growing once the roots establish, it will be about 4 weeks and we should be ready to move into flowering

I also decided to top all of the plants today, except the GDP and Ogiesel which are still very small and only just starting to grow at a faster rate. With the portions of the plants I topped, I kept at least 2 cuttings of each of the new strains: race fuel og, gorilla glue #4, candyland, mendo grape kush, and trainwreck, and put the cuttings into some root riot plugs and into my humidity dome.

I want to get these 6 strains rooted quickly, and into pots so that in the next 45 days they can veg to a size ready to transplant, and when my flowering tent is finished and empty I will be able to move these over into the flower tent for my next flowering round, and right before I decide to flip my seed project to 12/12, I will take cuttings of the other 6 strains, which will go into my 3rd tent as mothers and to prepare for the next seed project (round 3).

Timing is essential in my perpetual garden, to make sure I can time the grows just right to be able to always have a tent flowering, all 12 strains alive in veg, as well as a constant seed project and humidity dome with clones

Well other than topping the newest strains and taking clones, I gave all the plants a good feeding of r/o water, botanicare pro gro, some sea veg by microlife, botanicare cal/mag and vitamin b1 1-1-1.

Here are today's photos..

Day 12 Flowering, using Budmaster 730nm Emerson LED for flower triggering.

UPDATE time!!!

Hey everyone!! So now that flowering has begun, I will start to update more frequently than I do in veg

So today marks day 12 of flowering, from the flip to 12/12. I am still using the budmaster emerson panel, 15 minutes after lights out, 15 minutes before lights on (flowering trigger) as well as running it for 1 hour at mid day (emerson effect).

I haven't noticed much stretch in any of the plants, except for the 2 mystery bagseed plants front and center, as they have probably doubled to trippled in size since I started flowering them, first at the 14/10 and now at the 12/12. I gave the 2 mystery plants a good look over to make sure that I saw all flowers at the nodes and no balls, and sure enough, they look female and no hermi parts yet ... I will keep a close eye, but so far things are going great with them. I have no clue what they are, and the leaves don't look anything like strains I have grown before, so it will be interesting. The smell is definitely leaning towards skunky, and the leaves seem to be more indica dom but does seem to be some type of hybrid as they are not super fat, so can't wait to see what they turn out to be

I fed the girls yesterday a good mix of compost tea, botanicare pro bloom, gave them a pinch of Moab (synthetic P and K booster), and cal mag and hit them with a foliar spray today. Overall they seem to look pretty healthy despite the deficiencies they went through about 2 to 3 weeks ago... the new growth and flowers look good...Not much for trichomes yet, but I imagine that within the next few days I should start seeing them get frosty...

I haven't defoliated yet, and probably wont for at least another week when I will do a good lolipopping as well as defoliation. Mainly to prevent too much thick foliage and let the airflow keep the leaves happy, as well as a lollipopping to get rid of all the smalls and larf. Usually I do this around day 20 or so of flowering, after the flower sets have really set in and the stretching usually is halted.

Well here are today's photos...

Day 16 flowering (from the flip to 12/12).

Well I decided today that I would defoliate the plants, as well as give them a good lollipopping now that the flowers seem to be set to help with light penetration and better airflow in the canopy. I took off about a plastic grocery bag full of leaves and small stems and larf and tossed it all into my soil bin to compost. I usually remove all the stems but this time since the soil will be sitting for some time before getting used I left some of the smaller stems in but still removed the barky larger ones.

I also am going to be trying a new product out called Mammoth P which is a microbe product specifically designed to target phosphorus. I'm really excited to be trying it out because I have seen side by sides in which there was a very noticible difference in plant size and health, and supposedly it will increase yield as well which makes sense if it helps release trapped Phosphorus. Pretty happy to be giving it a run and we will see

I also went to the hydro store today, and picked up some necessities. I was out of earth juice microblast and meta k so I picked up some of it, and also was out of hygrozyme. I decided to try a new zyme product by growmore, which who knows if its as good as hygrozyme, but we will see. Its half the price...I also picked up some bushdoctor kangaroo root drench which is a myco and bacteria product as I don't currently have on on hand and needed one and also some maxicrop seaweed extract because I was out of it as well. Actully all that was under $70 with my discount which was pretty cool and even picked up some advanced nutrients cal/mag which was on clearance for 3/4 off the price, so it was like 5$
Pretty much all the stuff I picked up was either an exact replacement for what I have been using, or a similar product to what I had. We will see

Other than that I noticed that the soil was a little bit compacted on top of the pots so I broke it up a little bit with a spoon and just moved the soil around to help it dry out better as well as let oxygen in. I think it may have been the worm casting topping I put on a couple weeks ago, and may have hardened so now the soil should breathe really well

All of the plants are doing fairly well, not the most healthy I have ever grown but not bad either.. The 2 front mystery bagseed plants are actually looking amazing and are the first to show trichomes. They also have much more flower established than the others. Other than that the plants all look to be regaining health what seemed to be a lack of Mg and K, so now the new growth is looking pretty healthy.

Well not much else to report on today

Here are some pics

I've actually decided to change things up, and thats actually what I decided to do.. I wasn't seeing any flowers pop by day 12 from the flip to the 14/10 with the 2 hours of far red after lights out, so decided to move it to a 12/12, with 15 minutes of far red after dark, 15 minutes of far red before lights on... and 1 hour of far red at mid day (emerson effect, and to hopefully to counter mid day depression and drop in photosynthesis).

I've searched high and low for the correct answer on what part of the day offers more far red, and haven't found a specific answer. I would think at mid day the earth receives more of all wavelengths of light, where at dawn and dusk, since it travels through more atmosphere of gasses and water vapor and dusts and such, I would guess that the total amount of far red is lower, but the ratio of far red to blue and far red to other higher energy shorter wavelength light is higher... but that is just my guess....

Looks good .
If that's Arcata cut train wreck you'll need lots of support for it real soon. Everyone of mine lay down early into flower with out.

Quick update video using my brand new shiny new smartphone :) lol

supposedly shoots in 4k so the video should be really crisp :)

Enjoy!

Yea this think wants to be a monster, I have trimmed it in half at least 2 times and it just wants to keep growing. I plan on using it in future breeding projects as I think it will make for an excellent and genetically diverse offspring as trainwreck is sort of on its own in terms of genetic likeness to other strains

After comparing photos of the different trainwrecks, I definitely think this is the Arcata cut, its definitely the same one that hit the socal area really hard around 05-06 or so.. it has that minty, sprite, lemony toothpaste type smell... really hard to describe.. almost like a mint gum smell... LOL your right, after about 20 days into flowering this thing started to get weak in the knees and now its flopped every which way...LOL!

I had a few deficiencies with it that stalled it out so even though looking amazing, definitely not as big of a development that I would like to see... but time will tell :)
