Ideal Ambient Temperature running LED's???

I have a question regarding ideal ambient temperatures when running LED's opposed to HID's. Ive always tried to maintain a temperature of 75f when running HID's. I have heard from various sources that 80f is a more ideal temp when running LED's. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? Thanks

Just curious as to what the reasoning behind running your room's temps higher with leds is? I think temps should be catered for strains, but I haven't really experimented with my room temps while running leds. I run about the same as my hps, 70s with lights on and a 10-15 degree dip at night when the lights are off. The only things I do different in regards to temp are no cooling and add a heater when temps drop too low.

I think the type of light source wouldn't affect a plant's optimal temperature requirements as much as strain and medium (i.e. soil vs hydro). I do find that since I don't need such extreme cooling (AC or forced outside air) with my LEDs, that my LED rooms do run about 6ºF higher day ambient, than my HPS grows, roughly 70-72º vs. 76-78ºF.

When heat is needed, and if feasible, rather than adding a heater I will add CFLs in the grow area.

Peace!

The prime temp for L.E.D. is right around 85*F and you need to use a good draining soil. The "old way" of using HID involved elevated heat levels which you used cooling to try and control the enviroment. The absence of heat is use of L.E.D.'s requires you to maintain a higher temp than most are used to and it seems wrong. Using L.E.D.'s due to the lack of heat causes root rot because transpiration is not adequate and the soil holds water longer due to an improper transpiration rate. Most people complain about yeilds but it has alot to do with trying to grow in the same temps as they are used to growing using an HID setup.

When I was running HID's the temps were 84-86 steady every day, 63-65 at night.
I changed to LED and had to redesign the vent system completely. Convection heat versus radiant heat. Anyhow, the temps dropped 10 degrees first day. Now they are back up to 84-86 again.

The plants seem to like this temperature whether HID or LED. My veg room runs the same under CMH, the clones run 74-76 under fluorescents.

When the world gets in the way and these temps are not maintained the differences are pretty minor between 72 and 84 for growth.

Someplace in this book the temps for leaf photosynthesis are given. I think.
