Ideas for future grow

Hey guys first I apologize if this is the wrong section for this but here it is. I plan on starting a 4x4 or 5x5 tent in the near future when I move and can get set up. I will prob start simple with ffof soil and 33 to 40 percent perlite as I have had good luck with this in the past and the last time I did hydro I had multiple power outages and I don' want to deal with that this time. Plan to use 5,7 or 10 gal smart pots with 4 to 5 plants at a time and maybe a small box for a jump on veg for the next go round. I also want to go led again but may stick with hps/mh 600. Any insight on container size, go green led and if one of there 6 cob lights will run a 4x4 in flower or I can start with one and in a few weeks buy another to add before flower as I feel I may need to. Go green vs hps? Any help with set up would be appreciated. Any changes I should make to this? I have plenty of experience growing but that is mostly due to LOTS of reseach and trial and error over the years and lots of help from forums like this! Thanks in advance guys can' wait to be up and running again!!

I grow in #7 pots. Dont know your strain or intended grow style. If you growing an agressive grower 4 is all you want in there.

Go 5x5 over any 4x4.....Trust me on this. You'll be happier!
If you ever decide to try a SOG, in an ebb tray and use rockwool.....A 5x5 will fit a 4x4 tray setup perfectly! Backing up your elec. with a generator is always a wise move (If you own the home).

You can SOG in soil too. Just use Plant Warrior #1 pots, and flip at 8-10 inch's.... Your talking 64 plants in that 5x5...... Yield will shock the shit out of you!

Of course you need to know your growing pretty good to be successful at it.....Always a possibility down the road .. eh?

Look, skip the "smart pots" and go classic nursery pots or spend a little bit more on Plant Warrior pots... The return on those "smart pots" is not worth the cost of them up front (in my book, and I tested them for the first makers.) They dry out to fast and have "wetting" problems - if you don't know what your doing with them....

#5 nursery pots would be about the limit for multi plant runs in a 4x or 5x tent.

Single plants trained or SCROGed will need bigger pots....

You can learn to do amazing things with simply #3's and "pushing" for potentials in a tent that size.....

COB LEDs in a tent of that size = perfect selection. Costly up front but, they'll pay for them selves in heat reduction and plant quality, quickly!

Settle for only good solid COB's and skip the fly by night and over priced LED "banks"! AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY NO cheap "blurple" LED's!

If you have to go HID......1K or forget it!..Something else to do for HID...Square hood for a square tent! Maximize's the light delivery to the space. Look at "BLOCKBUSTER 6" hoods!.. Skip the DE HID systems for tents! They are best for tall ceilings for heat reason's.....

Good luck!

Over kill.

The "rule" of 1 zip per gallon of container size is an overblown myth...... Not hard at all to dbl that yield "rule" of thumb. Possible to "beat" that level also....
You want the best you can get, with as little as possible in a 4 or 5x tent.....

Gogreenleds.com I belive and I think they are also a sponsor here as well...
So your looking at this?
https://www.gogreenleds.com/store/p3/300W_6_COB_Cree_CXB3070_Grow_Light.html

Good lights but to me they are a bit pricey for whats in them. They use a cree cob but its an older less efficient one, 300w is a bit low for a 4x4.
For $600 you have plenty of options. But DIY is gona give you more bang for your buck.

For an extra $74 you could get this, which will smash a 4x4 and light up a 5x5 too.

Will check that out. Another thing to consider is the 20 percent off coupon for them as well they offer to RIU members... so you all know. And yes that is what I was talking about getting 2 of possibly before flower..

So everyone knows the exact fabric pot I was referring to is hydro farm dirt pot 7 gal. Have had success in soil of a few types this way in the past. And figured I go for that again. It works why change it right.. Not sure if brand matters with them but some of you may have used many and feel differently about it.

Isn' it true bigger roots bigger fruits? I figure (4) 7 gal pots would work nice in a 4x4 or 5x5 if i veg a little longer?

I dont recall stating that anywhere. I only tell him what I know about particular pot size in said area. The pot size I use is what I find best for my strain in my area...

Being as you use this size pot in your opinion would (4) 7 gallon pots in a 4x4 or 5x5 be ideal? This is what I have done in the past with success 5 or 7 gallon in a 4x4 but am always open to the opinion of other people that have other opinions than me...

I think you should calculate if the 5x5 is ideal for your lights, over the pot size. I cant advise on your light because i dont know them yet. But because i always think about tomorrow id go with the 5x5 just because.

Also a quick question.. does anyone have experience with vivosun products? Lights, tents, carbon filter? Tent and filter are what I want but do want to know if the light is any good as well. In a 4x4 or 5x5 would I go with a 4,6 or 8 fan and filter? 6 is what I have used in the past but all brands do not preform the same. Phresh is what I used last time around. Want to get a decent set up and buy more expensive better stuff in a few months to upgrade and keep cheaper one for veg. Tent.. Any insight on this? Thank you in advance guys and gals I very much appreciate it.

I think your plan is solid. Get whats in your price range. Learn your strain and craft. Then upgrade and make your life easier and doubling your effort.

Ok so I have decided I am going to buy a vivosun 4x4 with 6" filter. Running 4 plants in 7 gal ffof soil with 1/3 ratio with perlite possibly a tad more... I have plenty of geneal hydro and fox farm nutes left over but any opinion on nutes are welcome... also most importantly I should have my taxs within 3 weeks of today and would love to have the latest tech and enough light for a 4x4 and preferably a 5x5 in case I start another tent for flower.. go green led, or the quantum board mentioned above in this thread better than (2) 6 cob go green less? Any insight on led from people that really know them I'd like as well. I' not stupid but they progress so fast it' hard to keep up lol.. thanks in advance!!

If you are using ffof hold out on the bites for a bit. I did a half ffof and ffhf on my first one and overfed quite a bit. Depending on your veg time and with that size pot of and if you’re using mostly ffof, you may never need a serious nute feeding.
